In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi to Everyone,

Tamara here, Rainbow Bearded Dragons. I'm sure there are many of you with the same decision I'm facing because of the Shut down of domestic delivery by DHL. I set up an account with UPS just to find out that out of 5 shipments only one was there by 10:30 am delivery and they charged me 7.00-10.00 more per shipment than FedEx would have charged me.... I was wondering what you guys have been dealing with, with your NEW Shipper? I know nothing about Fedex and wondering if they delivery on time, next day service by 10:30am?? I used the post office once and they said it would be delivered by 10:30 am the next day. Well the tracking was useless and it didn't get delivered next day but second day!
In the mean time they couldn't even find my package and it showed up in the tracking 2 days later when it got delivered. I had enough of that! They said they use fedex planes and it may have been bumped off...
Just wondering what your results are with your new shipper, former DHL users...

Thanks, Tamara :shrug01:

I shipped them out with UPS on Monday 11/24/08 for next day Air and just got the bill tonight at my Paypal account...
That's when I figured out the charges...

Tamara

Who did you set it up with?? I hope not DHL because they sent me a letter stateing they won't guarantee delivery... Did you tell them it was a live animal??

Tamara

haha no, I did it just to see if it could be done. Figures. I always have had nothing but problems with them, and if they lose a package or you ever need to file a claim, you better be ready to fight for it. USPS is usually pretty good from my experience.

USPS is usually pretty good from my experience.

It is a federal offense to ship anything but a few kinds of herps through the U.S. Postal Service. It is illegal for all types of snakes I know for sure. FYI

As for DHL, I have a longstanding account with them, and I opened a FedEx account because of their closing of US operations. I really don't like the fact that they said they are closing down, yet will still take packages, but not guarantee the delivery. Not a chance that I'll take with a live animal. And I absolutely hate UPS, and wouldn't use them to ship an empty box.

FedEx priority overnight gets to my office by 9:30am every time, from every where that I have bought from.

The tracking is crazy. The drivers use a hand held thing that connects to their system via cell phone technology. The FedEx guy walks out after delivering something to me, I get an email telling me that my package has been delivered.

I quit using DHL when they became DHL. They were Airborne Express previously and I used them for a few years but when DHL took over they were giving a few shippers a hard time and I quit using partially on principle and partially just to avoid the time when it would be my turn to have to go get a package at the hub because they not only refused to ship it but refused to return it as well.

I switched to FedEx and have had very good service form them. If they say they'll get it there by 10:30 they pretty much always do. To some areas they don't offer the 10:30 service but guarantee it by 4:30. Rarely is a package ever delivered that late and often even then it still arrives by 10:30.

That being said, you'll eventually have a problem whichever one you choose, and one service may be more reliable in one area but not another.
I've talked to some people who will never use FedEx because in their local area they are unreliable, and I've talked to others who feel the same way about UPS.

A word on USPS though. As was already stated, only a few herps are allowed to be shipped through them, but more importantly they ceased to guarantee overnight service to most areas a few years ago. Now they guarantee overnight based on the distance from the senders location. The radius that falls under that guarantee is not very big on a national scale. So if you are shipping relatively close by, meaning within state or to neighboring states, and you are shipping a legally shippable herp, then that service is a consideration, but if you're sending something half way across the country or further, then USPS will probably not have it there next day nor will they guarantee it.

I;ve never had problems getting UPS shipments or fedex... but shipping UPS is tricky.... I am FEdEx certified and have had no problems

Ditto here! I've never had anything but problems with UPS, and that's not even with live animals! I trust FedEx with my shipping. I've only had one animal arrive late with them...and it was only a few hours.

I'm Fed Ex certified but if UPS ever came up with a certification and allowed snakes I'd use them because UPS is only 20 miles away where Fed Ex is over 160 miles round trip if I want over night shipping.

Well, that's the thing. I know people who use UPS and never had a mishap. I on the other hand, get packages from them all the time, and without exaggeration, 8 out of 10 packages are damaged. Seems like some cities, UPS is a curse, while other cities seem to have somewhat ethical practices.

Just not a chance I want to have to deal with, when sending a live animal.
