In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just was wondering how many of you have gone through the FedEx "reptile" shipping process and are now shipping herps via FedEx with no problems? Did you have any problems getting your shipping boxes approved? Are you now able to label your boxes correctly and "legal" as per the "Lacey Act"?

I'm aware of the "long" thread currently started on this subject and know that many of you were starting the FedEx "approval" process. However, I have not read or heard of anyone yet shipping via FedEx on a 100% approved basis with no problems.

Any updates would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I sent out about a dozen shipments last week with absolutely no problems. Got more lined up for this week. Unfortunately, the FedEx program doesn't have any way to put the contents right on the label, so I will have to come up with something else to do that with easier than just writing it on the box itself.

Rich,

I create labels on my computer and tape them on the sides of the boxes that all state "Live Harmless Reptiles" "Keep Inside" "No Extremem Temps" & "UP" You can also purchase labels at office depost and print on them and place them on the sides.

Attn: Rob

Your labels sound fine, but was wondering where exactly do you label the box as to its exact contents in order to comply with the "Lacey Act"?

Thank you.

Rob, David's query is what I was actually addressing in my post about contents of the boxes. With UPS I could put that right on the shipping label, but FedEx's program doesn't allow me to do that.

I guess I could print up a bunch of labels saying "X number of corn snakes" or some such, but that seems like such a wasted effort. Maybe I could get one of the office supply stores to make me up some sort of rubber ink stamp or something....

Attn: Rich

Was wondering if you still purchase your shipping boxes from Superior Ent.? If so, was that the shipping boxes that they approved? If yes do you know if FedEX would still want me to send in a few sample boxes for testing or would I be allowed to say that I would be using the Superior boxes which have already been approved. Just wondering. I'm not attempting to skip a step or give FedEx a hard time, but since a lot of us do indeed use their boxes, if they have already been approved, it seems like they would not need to see the boxes again..

Please advise.

Just throwing this out here

This link is for a label section in their catalog . The company will send you a free catalog and will custom print rolls of 1000 labels for you. Plus they have a butt load of other shipping stuff.

David, I guess you could ask FedEx about this, as it would be a logical thing to do. I am sure it costs them time and money to test each box sent to them, so approving a known type of box would be a reasonable thing for them to consider.

It sure would streamline this process as well, which couldn't be a bad thing on their part.

Make big labels

I use the sticky paper used to stick to medical charts to make labels for my shipping boxes. My wife is a medical transcriptionists so I just steal it from her. The sheets are the same size as normal paper and go right through the printer plus the paper is really sticky and doesnt come off. The finished boxes look great. step-by-step

I became overwelmed by all of the pages of posts and counter posts on the last two threads in regard to the 'proper' step-by-step procedure for getting the OK from FedEx. There was one where Webslave gave the details, but then there was so much "yes, but.." "no, but.." and "sort-of, but.." posted afterward I gave up.

Is that still the proper procedure, or has it changed now that many of you have gone through the process?

Thanks!

I gave a step by step post on just what needs to be done. I believe Webslave moved it to the shipping forum last week or so. It has everything you need to know on there.

Fed Ex approval

Brian,
Hello, and thanks for responding. I sent my package off last Monday, so I guess I should be getting something back anytime then. Thanks again for all your help.

FYI what is permitted

I have not been following this thread closely and therefore may have missed a post or two but I have not seen any posts as to what exactly you are or are not not supposed to do when shipping with FedEx. I went through the process of being approved to ship with FedEx and have have used them several times without any problems, but my shipments need to go to a business address. It clearly states on the paper that I was given by FedEx at the time of being approved that all shipments must go to business address only. I called FedEx and spoke with James Brown and he said that this was there policy and there would be no exceptions made, and that if any one was caught shipping to a residence that there account would be terminated.
Like everything else it all sounds great until you read the fine print.

This is a concern of mine - if we cannot ship to a residence then there is really no point for me to pursue a "contract" with FedEx after all. I know I can't receive reptiles at work. (tried that before and got into trouble!) FedEx has my test packages right now, and if/when I get the approval I will just make my sales rep aware of this I guess, and see what happens.

I thought you could have the "business address only" clause removed if you contact them. I believe you just have to provide a phone number for the recipient, and no shipments to po box's or rural roads (I think).

My question to you Rich Z is this, was anyone able to find out about the cost. Is it 60$ plus for small boxes, or was the online quote broken? Any luck on getting a standardized box size approved for us to lower the fee?

holy cow !!!

I just ran a rate check from here to somewhere in New England (random zip code) to a business address using Fed Ex Overnight. Used the large box that Daniel has for sale at Scales and gave a weight of 2 lbs. Figured that isn't too much for, say an adult ball python or 3 adult corns, all of which could easily fit into that size box. The cost came back at over $50. Imagine shipping a pair of breeding size ball pythons with a combined weight of 2500 grams, minimum (that's over 6 lbs of snakes) and the cost figures out to $56.49 at least, remember that these are just estimates for an imaginary shipment. And if the order would require a slightly larger box (20 x 15 x 9) which is larger than what Daniel had available, then the price for this imaginary pair of ball pythons just jumped to $77.79. For that, it begins to get cheaper to use Delta or another air carrier. We've got to get some sort of agreement that will assist all buyers/sellers with some fees that make it workable. Otherwise, we might as well just resign ourselves to air cargo carriers and long drives. Not to mention advising the buyers of the situation and forwarding these costs on to them.
