Hi all... I'm new here, and was referred by Kingsnake.com... I recently bought a Leopard Gecko from Petco, and he passed away today ... I will not make that mistake again, .. ever since I bought him, I started hearing horror stories about Petco, cypto, and other problems they seem to be known for...

so... I'm thinking, that in a Month or so, I'll be ready to try another... and have decided to go with a breeder this time. I know that Geckoranch.com is local to where I live, (I'm in Sacramento, CA), so I was considering going there. But based on my experience with Petco, I've decided to do some checking on the place I buy from first.

Does anyone have feedback (positive or negative) on Geckoranch.com???

Thanks everyone!

Mark

by the way, I did do several searches on the site, with various ways of breaking up "Geckoranch" before posting this thread

I have purchased many geckos from Julie @ Gecko Ranch, and I've been vary happy with her animals and the effort she gives her customers. I will buy again from Julie and recommend her animals to all.

I'll second that, Julie is great!
I think she may have toned down on selling this season (?), but if she has a gecko that you want, you can trust her!

I don't know about your Petco but the one I shop at here in Atlanta,Ga. said that their leopards come directly from gecko ranch. I did buy 3 female high yellows from this Petco 3 months ago and they are doing great. The Petco here actualy has a reptile breeder working in it's reptile dept so if anything does not look right he will not put it in the sale area. I have gotten to know him pretty well and am always testing his knoweledge on reptiles. So far he has passed the test. Why cant all Petco stores find intellegent people with experience to work in their reptile dept. But back to the subject of Gecko Ranch. If these 3 females that I purchased were actualy bred by Gecko Ranch then I would definatly suggest them as a good place to buy from.

I just had a Great experience doing businesss . . .

. . . with Julie of the Gecko Ranch. I was looking for some leos with a specific look to help me along with a project, and Julie was able to help me out.

Julie could do a clinic on packing and shipping leos. They shipped from California to Minnesota, where it's a bit chilly today - in perfect shape, active and fired up, right out of the box.

She was a pleasure dealing with - very professional - prompt - cool animals - great shipping - all around great experience.

I know she already has a stellar reputation - but this was such a great experience, that I had to write about it

To my knowledge Julie Bergman of Gecko Ranch isn't supplying petco, but I could be wrong. I was pretty sure all of their Leopard Geckos were coming from the Gourmet Rodent.

I have met Julie in person at the Daytona show and she was very pleasurable to talk to. I was looking at some of the Phelsuma she had on the table and they were spectacular looking. She really knows her stuff and she's been at this for quite a long time. I don't think you could go wrong. :)

Marc, where are you located in Atlanta? I live in Atlanta as well and would love to visit a petco that has someone knowledgeable in their herp department.

Gecko Ranch

I know Julie from Gecko Ranch, and she is a very experienced and knowledgeable gecko breeder, and she really cares about her animals. She only lives about an hour's drive from me, and I have a couple of her Leos in my own colonies. She had one of my adult males, and he took a good bite out of her thumb once (drew blood), and she didn't even flinch! She's great.

I can guarantee that Julie is NOT supplying PetCo with her reptiles, and if you live in the SF Bay area it is usually CalZoo or Gourmet Rodent (Bill Brandt) that supplies to those stores.

I've bought tee-shirts from Julie at Gecko Ranch. Seemed like a class act, and all of her animals looked good (this was at a show). You might also check with Arlen at Walkabout Reptiles in Modesto. (www.walkaboutreptiles.com). All but one of my leos came from Arlen, and I've been completely satisfied. I have no doubt that either one will give you 110% service.

Re: this is an old post I resurrected . . .

. . . from over a year ago Rob. I don't know if he will notice it or not. I just didn't want to start another thread on Julie.

D'oh!

Hmmm...

Double-D'oh! FYI, Arlen from Walkabout is selling the business... equipment, animals, supplies, domain and everything. His health is not good, and it's too much for him.

mmmm... question..

Any affiliation or relations with Mice on Ice - Joe Brandt?
