    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi,
I have 2 female geckos and I recently tried to place them in the same vivarium together and within 2 minutes it was an instant fight.They are equal in size and the enclosure is 20T18Dx36L it's like a 40 gal. One female has been living in it for several weeks now..and I just tried to place the other female inside the enclosure on Friday evening. When they got into the fight I separated them immediately and left the original female in the larger enclosure. I would like for these guys to live with one another, but I am aware that just like people we don't all get along all the time. Could someone give some tips on reintroducing them to one another. And should I take the one female out of the larger enclosure and set her up in a 20 gal like I have the other one in, So I can completely re-do the entire viv and introduce them in it at the same time? I Need Help.
 
Generally speaking, if you are going to introduce two of any animal into the same enclosure, they should both be intro'd to a neutral enclosure. The one female has already established her home, and seems to be defending it. ???
If they were intro'd to a totally cleaned viv, new substrates, water, the works, it may not have happened that way.
I'm no gecko pro, but this is what I have been taught as a rule in my rehabbing efforts. Just my $0.025

Thanks so much for your advice and your $ .25 were well worth it...I called a friend who works at the zoo here in Atlanta and I was basically told the same thing that you told me...I just feel horrible. I am going to take the one out of the established enclosure and clean everything and place the one in it's own territory and then introduce them in the NEW viv at the same time..Do you think this is a better idea?
 
It does sound like a better idea. :) clean everything. water bowl, hides, ect. maybe even rearrange it a little, so as to make it sorta unfamiliar ground.

It's not a matter of whether they "mark" their territory or not. It's the fact that she will still detect her scent on things, and could "possibly" still react the same way.
Whether marking or not, she will leave some scent of herself. They can taste things just as good as a snake does. Even down to PPM's
