    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i want to catch cool bugs like this..... God you guys make me jealous with all your cool pictures!

I should hatch some of these guys out next year. i know the garden shop sells them!

I know some years I don't see them. John that looks EXACTLY like the one my co-workers caught me last night! A female?? I thought the females were all green. That should be a male. Males are bigger and darker in color. Etc.brown. In which case males are rare because the females kill them. I do belive I'm right.

No it is definately a female...they are as variable in color as we are.
The abdomen tells me that.
I have seen green males brown males and two colored males as well as the same in females. She is a younger one and will swell up some.

Wow, thats younger because I see way smaller alot more! Could you pretty please tell me how to sex them!??? I can't believe I believed a lie all these years! I put the big one I acquired last night and the one I found today out in my wilderness of a backyard! I'm glad I found that out before I would of tried making lesbo Mantis's.

Thats very nice of you but I'm not sure I'll know what I'm looking at! May I also ask where your getting this male Mantid from?

We find the males more so than the females at this time of year...after a while the females get so heavy that they can not fly so they are wanderers.
They males we find under bright suburb lights or in the morning at local convenience stores. The female I found there at one , her abdomen was not quite swelled so she was able to fly a short distance.
When you see the pics it will be like night and day to you.It is raining so we cought none last night

Awesome mantid!!! I've always been facinated by most bugs,a nd they have been a favorite.
By the way, we have palmetto walking stick bugs here! I am keeping my eyes open for anyhting neat to catch and take photos to share of.
Wolfy(LOVE the pictures!)
