    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My female, which I think might be wild caught, decided tonight was the night and layed an egg! Its currently sitting right on the astroturf and can't be more than an hour old. Right now, there is only one, so I expect there will be a second sometime soon. How long does it usually take between the two eggs in the clutch? If she does not lay a companion to this egg is that a bad sign? My female is at least 2~5 years old and the last time she layed there was only one egg. Also, the egg is still soft right now - so should I wait a bit until it hardens up before transfering it into the perlite? I cant wait to candle it!!

Congrats on the egg! You need to provide her with an egg laying container with moist coco fiber. She could become egg bound and the eggs can dry out without one. If she hasn’t laid a second egg it looks like it will only be one. If a female is carrying 2 eggs they are usually laid within minuets of each other. One egg is perfectly fine. I would still move the egg into the perlite even though it’s on the softer side. Again an egg laying container would help this. Good luck with it!

Yes, I have moved the egg, (carefully), into a perlite container just like outlined on Albey's site. Stinks that there probably won't be a second egg, but my female has done a superb job anyway. I tried to candle it and looked at a big dark spot at the large end surrounded by another not as dark spot. Is this the bullseye thing I've heard of? If I can manage to procure a digital camera I'll post a pic. As for a laying box, I have one official moist vermiculite/shredded sphagnum moss container, which the female hates apparently. Also I have a large flattened pop bottle filled with plain vermiculite. This is where the geckos sleep most of the day. I'll take up your advice and try to get coco-fiber somehow. Thanks!
