    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My leo was very finicky. She got as skinny as a pencil. Eating a cricket every two days or so, if that. Then I got her a larger cricket and for the first time, she wiggled her tail in front of me. She seemed to pick up. I got her butterworms and silkworms and now she eats daily. She does not care for mealworms though.


So, you can try increasing the size of your feeders and it may help

Yes it is amazing the feeding response when you vary a Leos diet in type or size. Though I have found that using proper size crickets or roaches or worms works as well.
 
then the most finicky leos will eat ROACHES... weird and once they srat they will be gin to eat all kinds of other stuff too.... weird
 
Oh yeah, roaches will get the job done. I had a real picky eater and I gave her some roaches and she was on them faster than fly’s on poo. Now she’ll eat mealworms. :)
 
I can best tolerate the occasional cricket around the house that will most surely end up starving himself with time. The thought of roaches escaping is a little freaky. Those things are survival heroes. Are these wingless?
 
I’ve had one orange head roach escapee that I know of. I found it in the bathroom. I don’t really worry about them getting out where I live because as soon as winter comes it will be hard for them to survive. Most of the commonly kept species have wings but they are unable to fly.
 
Hum.. Cody, what is the name of those roaches? What is their nutritional content? Are they like cricket, more calcium, less...?

The most common kept species for food are:
orange heads (Eublaberus prosticus)
orange spotted (Blaptica dubia)
discoid (Blaberus discoidales)
death head (Blaberus craniifer)
six spot (Eublaberus distanti)
lobster (Nauphoeta cinerea).

There are also hissers but I wouldn’t feed them. There are also a few others that are kept as food but they’re less “common”. I don’t really know the nutritional content of a roach compared to a cricket or mealworm. I do know that the roaches have a higher meat content witch is more protein.
