In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My first baby hatched out today 4:30 am.I breed a DH BB Tremper to a DH BB Tremper, baby is a tremper albino pos. blizzard het.I have around 200+ eggs left in the cooker.I hope i get the BB Tremper this year. :dgrin:

Congrats! Hopefully I'll be able to see some of your babies at the next KC Herp show. :p

Congrats on the new hatchling Jodi! Now did you stay up till 4:30 am and watch that leo hatch? LOL. We’re so dedicated…

Very cool..... But just to clear things up a bit, in reality there is no such thing as a double het for blazing blizzard..... Hope to see you produce one though....

Cody,No i get up at 4:00am on the weekends to get it all done in one day.Saterday is the big day for cleanning the geckos.I do the snakes on Sunday am.

Gregg,So what would you call them? The adults.I breed a Tremper Albino to a Blizzard and got all normal looking babys that are het for Tremper Albino and Blizzard. So yes that is a double het.And when you breed the babys back to each other each egg has a 1 in 16 chance to be a BB.

Albino x blizzard fact of the matter is you could breed them for ever and not get a single blazing so even if they carry the genes you can't call them het for blazing.

Then i am wrong and so is everyone who is working with double hets.It is a term we use.I am not selling these just working with them,to produce the BB.

When someone advertises a het for blazing. I've always taken it to mean that the gecko carries genes for both albino and blizzard.... Yes, there does seem to be something else at play in terms of combining the two traits, but that doesn't change the fact that the gecko in question carries both these genes, and can potentially produce a blazing.

They are het for blizzard and het for albinos or double het for blizzard and albino..... Jodi, in your case it is not that bad to call them double het for blazing blizzard but if you are selling them it is misleading to call them that..... Anyone that calls this mix a double het for blazing blizzard is infact wrong..... By calling them double het for blazing blizzard, it is insinuating that if the two are bred together the WILL produce blazing blizzards, and this is clearly not the case..... The genetics do not play out that simply..... You can breed them their entire life and never get a blazing blizzard..... And you can breed those hets from that pairing and still never get a BB..... Terminology is very important...... It might seem like a small thing but it can mean alot...... All to often proper naming is lost and it starts mass confusion...... Morphology and taxonomy is messed up in certain species because of mislabeling..... No need to push it along any more...... Maybe I am just a bit too anal when it comes to things like this..... Anyway Jodi, I hope it does work out in your favor..... It would be great to see some more BBs produced....

Oh and when dealing with blazing blizzards it it not a 1 in 16 chance anymore...... You can take that gecko genetics calculator and throw it out the window..... If this was the case, dont you think the market would have been flooded with BBs already?????

Well if i get lucky this year i should have all 3 strains of BB,and all 3 strains of pattermless albinos. We will see how it goes.I have been working on the BB and PA for 2-3 years now. :dgrin:

ide still call it a double het

by definition it is heterozygous for 2 recessive traits "DH" !what do you call tremper X patternless ? Double Het ! even though they dont combine very easily either ...... we all know that combining the 2 is easier said than done ,by now ........and sure if u were to sell one youde want to make sure the person knows its not just going to happen on the first try , but they could be that one lucky/unlucky person that gets hit by lightning way too often lol

I call them double hets for Blazing also. Of course I would explain to anyone that asked me that it is actually a double het for albino and blizzard. I think that calling them "het for blazing" is a little misleading. as that implies that one has a 25% chance of hatching one with each egg.

Also, why is it that so many feel that blazings are so near impossible to produce? Same with the Tremper albino patternless? I just do not believe it is so. The Rainwater albino patternless are much more common now because when Rainwater was selling het albinos back in the late 1990's, many of them were actually double hets (most likely 66% possible DH's that he sold as plain het albinos). At that time a few of us got lucky and produced Rainwater PA's, myself, Kevin Dunne and Kevin Hanley were the first (other than Rainwater) to hatch them out and we all purchased our original het albinos from Tim. I believe the two Kevin's were in the 2nd year of their RW albino projects (meaning they most likely had held back quite a few animals that ended up being DH's, or albinos het patternless, patternless het albinos).

Anyway the point to all this is that what proof does anyone have that it is much more unlikely to produce blazings or Tremper PA's that Rainwater PA's? I mean let's consider this fact on the blazings. Jay Vella (Prehistoric Pets) and Mark Bell are sitting on several dozen (if not more by now) Tremper blazings! Think about it!

Kelly Thank you.

I am not selling these as DH it is ONLY a term i and many use for these geckos.

Question for all.Why are you jummping on my back for useing this termDH?
I have never sold a gecko as a DH and never will.Dam people ask why i do not post here and the other place more and now you all can see why i do not post more. :hot:
Trust me i know what i am doing with breeding the leopard geckos.

actually !

why is it that so many feel that blazings are so near impossible to produce ? Same with the Tremper albino patternless?
heresay i suppose ! from someone that didnt want everyone else on the band wagon possibly ? myself personally was lead to beleive this by garrick demeyer ! but i have also thought of the possibility that just like w any recessive trait for you to get ratios that go along w probability you are just lucky , as it could very well go the other way a hundred times before you get what your after !
Trust me i know what i am doing with breeding the leopard geckos.
yea you guys know ? jodi here has done this for quite some time , and didnt get where he is today by misleading people thats for sure . i applaude you jodi ,keep up the work and good luck to you !
