In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I finally got my first clutch of BP eggs, and I'm pretty stoked! They are from a spider x pastel pied pairing, with 5 viable eggs, laid the day before easter.

Congrats on the eggs. They almost look shrink wrapped. Do you have air holes in the tub??

Congrats Jeremy, and dont worry about air holes my tubs are completely sealed and even have a rubber gasket around the lid and I have never had a problem with them.

Thanks for the tip Bob, the image was taken the day I got them in the tub. I have since changed to using a couple layers of white egg crate and a little water in the bottom, but kept the top sealed. It seems so much easier than dealing with the perilite. I was freaked out about mold, and whether or not I had enough moisture. The eggs aren't perfect, they are kinda wrinkly in spots, but they are viable. I candled them today, and they are super veiny, and I saw little tails moving around in there!!! It's day 21 and I'm having a hard time leaving them alone. Man I hope there's a little bumble bee het pied in there!!!

Great first clutch...I don't have air holes in my tubs either and open them up for exchange every 4-5 days.

Rob,
Perhaps that is the trade off.

1. Small little holes for small consistent air exchange, not opening the tub during incubation at all

or

2. Sealed tight, but then opening it manually every so often during incubation

Suppose we all do what works best for the individual. Good luck!

I'm in the camp that lets tubs breath, eggs do not need 100% humidity to incubate properly.
Everyone does their own thing, to me it's just easier to allow the tubs to breath versus being aired out once a week

OP: Good luck on hitting some nice odds!

Bob, how often do you open your containers during incubation?

Not often, every few weeks just too check on em. Im convinced I could let them go till the day they hatch without opening them, but cant stay out of the incubator long enough to find out for sure:D

Congrats on the eggs! I have my containers fully sealed and open every 2-3 days cause Im paranoid like that and like to check on my offspring on a regular basis.

day 52 update

Well, I have all viable eggs, I couldn't wait any more and cut em. Looks like I have one bumblebee, 2 spiders(1 of those may be a bee as well but I can't tell for sure) a pastel and a normal. Man I'm stoked. I'll get some pics when they start poking their heads out..:dancer01::crazy03::dancer01:

Here's a pic of the clutch. The one bumblebee outta the group was kinke d so I had to cul it, but it's sibs seem to be fine...
