    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

first feeding.. sum wierd problems.

Ok, so the previous owner told me, he missed his meal on tuesady, so I figured I'd feed him today before work. :eatsmiley Anyways, I bought a frozen rat fuzzy (which is what he's been eating.), and put it in my pocket while I rode my motorcycle home from the pet store (to help thaw.), then I put the rattie in a bag, and put it in warm water for about 5 minutes (water temp: 102 deg f.) I tried to give it to my boa, and he struck right at it. He then proceded to constrict, and clasp on. Here's where the problem is... After like 2 minutes, he'd let go ! ! ! why would he let go?? I don't understand. Is he supposed to? anyways, thanks for the help. I have like 15 minutes before I hafta run to work=X..

My Hog hates an audience. He will strike and "kill" and then spend about 5 minutes looking around his enclosure to make sure no one is watching. Then he goes to work. He has actually seen me move across the room and struck at the plastic. I now feed him last and leave the room to let him eat.

That's normal behavior in some boas. Some of mine will constrict and start eating right of the coils. Some will drop the prey item and smell it all over until they find the head, then start eating. Some will drop the prey and be attentive to my movements expecting more food to drop from the “sky”. They probably figure the first one is already waiting so if they can secure another one before starting to eat they might be better off. Although they will all eat in my presence I’d rather leave them alone to avoid “distractions” as they will sometimes pay more attention to my movements in the room than to the meal that’s ready to be eaten.

Regards.

Congrats on your new boa!

Hey there!
I spoke with you on the phone a few weeks ago. The other guy came through but I am so glad that you found a nice male Nic. They are great boas and do not get too large, especially the males. As far as feeding goes, I personally feed my girl in a separate container and cover it with a dark towel while she is eating. This gives her privacy and reduces the chances that she might regurge her food. Don't worry about your boa "dropping" his food. Mine constricts until she is sure it is "dead," drops it, and then rubs her face all over it before swallowing it. :lick: Once your lil' guy is done with his food, leave him in his feeding enclosure for 5-10 minutes, so he has time to get it down. Then you can gently move him back to his cage to digest. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me! Take Care,
Nicole
