In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My first python was of course my Ball but I recently aquired a Macklotts and can't seem to find much info and was directed here. Any info is helpful!

My first python will be the aru scrub that i am picking up on saturday. But i do keep 1 brb,3 bci and a crested gecko right now.I was planning on sticking with all boas but i am starting to like pythons quite a bit now.

A Ball

My first snake was a ball after doing a bunch of research on them. I was younger, and of course impulse bought, and had a bunch of problems. I eventually brought her back to the store that I got her from.
My next venture was with a BCI and I loved him. He grew FAST, and I never personally had any problems with him. He did though, bite my 5 year old nephew in the face. That was a pretty scary moment... Even after that, he never once was scared of him. A few months later I was deployed for 9 months, and regrettfully the BCI died during that time. My nephew had told me even after he got bit, that he would take good care of him while I was away. When he died, my nephew felt so bad that he cried and told me over the phone that he would wait to bury him till I got home. When I arrived home, the snake was in a ziplock in the freezer in the garage.
After getting married, my wife showed some interest in getting a ball.
We found some nice CB babies on sale at the pet store near us and I reluctently bought her one. He is truly great, has the best appetite, and an awesome personality. He has gone from a tiny fuzzy eating hatchling to eating 2 small, or a med rat with no problem in the year we have had him.
The next venture was with an albino burm rescue, that died from starvation 6 months later.
I currently have 5 burms, and 2 balls, and the list will continue to grow. Thankfully I have a room that I can dedicate solely to the snakes, and will in the spring begin to convert my unattached garage into the snake den.
I am even more thankful though, for my wife having so much patience with my hobby. Sorry for blabbing

My first, snake was a Dumerils Boa, but my second was my Albino Burmese "Baby". My third was my Patternless Burmese "whiskers" and the rest is snake history LOL! The personality of my Gentle giants is worth there weight in gold! and trust me with 3 female burmese..gold would be cheaper than rats LOL! I see a rabbit farm in my future!

It's tough to say what my first snake was. The first snake that I bought was an adult male sumatran Black x malaysian Red blood mutt. His name was Sumo, and he was very ill when I got him. I got him going, and ended up with one of the greastest snakes I ever owned. I'd have to find his pic to post it on here. Then a little before that while I was working at the rescue it was decided that some of the Burms had to get adopted out, and I reserved 2, Zelda and Phil, until I was ready to take them to my house, since my roomate at the time wasnt a huge snake fan, and with phil being 11 feet, its a hard sell. Zelda ended up passing away before I ever got to take her home, but I still have Phil to this day, and Sumo died in January of 2005, two years ago almost to the day today. I didnt even think about it until I am typing this. As depressing as it is, there were so many good memories, that it does bring a smile to my face. Hopefully the pics attach, it will be sumo and Phil, I dont have Zelda's on the computer. Dan M. Sorry Sumo's isnt on here either so I will post him later, but here is Phil and in one shot he is with his girl Luna, who passed away on October 27th of 2006(she is the one that caused me to sell almost everything, and was personally responsible for bringing me into the world of snakes when she got me over my fear. She had gotten at least 25 people over their fear, and so she gave so much to the reptile world.

I said like a month ago that I would post pics of my blood cross, and I forgot until I got the email that someone replied to this thread. So here is Sumo the aforementioned Blood Python. Have a great week, Dan M.

My first was an adult wild royal python i caught while when i was 11 while on vaction in Ghana with my parents.

My first was a ball like the average person trying to convince there parents into letting them get a snake. I wasn't allowed to have a snake in the house (moms rules) yea but them rules didn't stay very long I'm good a persuading her and that was about 2 years ago and now I have 9 pythons and 6 boas . I'm not allowed to get a diffrent species until i researched it and prove to her that i no how to take proper care of them and I think for the past 3 years thats all Ive done was reed reed reed and worked my but of to to support my hobby but i think its worth it ,it has to be hands down the best hobby out there or more like an addiction in my eyes lol.

My first was actually a GTP My wife got me for our anniversary. I had always wanted an arborreal snake and that was the one she liked and got me for a gift. Then just recently I picked up a 7 ' Retic on a semi-rescue. I kinda skipped the ball thing..........LOL

My first was a Ball Python.

Had a very small knowledge of snakes. Otherwise I would have gone into something else.

ball python well actually burmese but wasnt mine snake it was more of my brother snake but i just bought a baby burmese i still have my ball python so python for me wass ball python really if u consider carter snakes as constrictors den yeah that was my first snakes

My first python was a female ball. She wouldn't eat anything but live, which made her a bit to a pain to feed. My second python was a 6 foot burm who would eat anything put in front of her.

First python was a ball / royal which sadly died due to my relative inexperience in dealing with RI. Now I have 6 balls / royals, an IJ Carpet, 2 Coastal Carpets and a Diamond X Jungle Carpet.

My first was a ball though I was originally planning on getting a Sumatran Blood as my first snake. I sorta wish I had, but the ball died within the year from URI so I guess it's not a horrible thing that I started with a ball. I haven't gotten a python since though. Now I have two BCIs and a corn. I am looking at BP hets as my next acquisition.

Like i said befor, My first python was a burmese python, Family pet, We gaved it to a friend of ours at 15 feet+, Mine first actaul python i bought with my own money, Was my ball python lol, Wasnt intending to buy him, Trying to buy a burmese, Then i bought a burmese which is 3 foot shedding right now, And i bought another burmese, This time a female, And i bought a colombian red tail boa, lol.
