In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm sure your inability to resist good food is solely your wife's fault for being one hell of a cook. Your wife is a temptress and has an obligation to be more sensitive to your needs because, as she should know, you just can't help yourself. After all, you do have Dietary Discrepancy Disorder, do you not? :D
No, She cant cook at all! And we eat out all the time ...lol
J/K i hope she doesnt read this...lol

wild life people have to much power

This is my first tome posting on the BOI I became a paid mem. just for this thread. Some people reading this may know me but most do not at one time I owned a pet store in VA. In which it is legal to own ven. reptiles and you can have crocs and things with permits. In my store I had a zoo like section that I did school tours and educational things with kids and anyone else who wanted to go in it I was also Lic by the usda to handle mammals. Well we had a animal control lady who wanted to go in with the mountian lions I owned and I talked to the USDA lady and she said she wouldn't let her in there so I didn't because if something was to happen even with who she was it would still fall back on me and the cats. Well this made the AC lady really mad and after that we started having visit from the VA wlidlife people whiich was no problem any way to make a long story short the tried to do a undercover sting on us and sent a few guys in wearing wires trying to purchase illegal stuff but we never sold them any thing. well finally they wanted to buy some copper heads which were legal to have and sell as long as you didn't have more than 5 and the sell did not exceed $200.00 in a 90 day period we had 4 copperheads and sold them for $30.00 a piece well he keep on wanting more and we kept telling him the store didn't have anymore that was it all we had.
well one of the boys who rented an apartment from me and hung out at the store some told him he had 3 of his own and would sell him his the guy said ok
and went to his apartment and got his 3 well he said he only had 100 dollar bills and they took his money and he left in about 3 hours they raided they store you would have thought we were selling drugs or something I would say there was 25 agents and 20 police the police were cool they would not come into the store because most of them bought stuff from me well the called and asked if I would come up and when I did I tried to call my lawyer and they arrested me fo trying to prevent them from serving the search warrant. any way I know this is long but my point hear is this these guy have more power than state police do and they know it and the one I dealt with didnot have a clue about animals they thought A corn snake was a baby rattler. any way they charged me with 2 felones and 15 misdemenors If they charge me for owning it they charged me for conspiracy to own it anyway I was cleared of all charges deal with the wildlife people. but in court the guys admitted to hiding the tapes they made because there was nothing on them that we did wrong to come up with some of the charges they tried to say that the other boy who sold them snake owned part of the store and a bunch of stuff like that. You must have a good lawyer because the laws are written so vague that they can twist them to anything for ex. the VA law about selling indigenious species and not more than 200 in a 90 day period could apply to selling fish bait earth worms or anything like that this is how they get you.And in final note the news jumps on this kind of stuff and they are not obligated to tell the truth just part of it and when you are cleared they do not tell that part.any way I have taking enough space but if anyone wants to know more I will be glad to tell them you can e-mail. Thanks for reading

It sounds to me that Donnie Smith is our "Martha Stewart". It's a case for Florida to test. You can bet next year they will be in greater force. Other states are watching what happens here as well. We need to publish here on the BOI "dos and don'ts" at shows for each state. By the way.... Hats off to N.E.R.D. for taking care of Donnie at the show.

Hey Jerry,

I will be at the Tampa Show, which of course is the next big Florida Expo on October 1 and 2. How about you? I hear they making a special area at Guantanamo just for us.

Bruce, I have

some other obligations in meeting some family members. But I do hope Tony provides additional information to any out of state vendors to protect themselves from self incrimination. Remember, you do not have to provide any information other than what is requested in the permit application. He can examine the permit, he can ask for receipts or breeding records, and thats it! If he pursues any additional conversation, I would just tell him, that "here is the information you asked for, and I have nothing else to say to you" He cannot ask for your license, or your tax permit or anything that does not pertain to the vendors permit. You are under no legal obligation to provide him with anything else.

With Daytona being next weekend, I thought I'd bring this back to everyone's attention. Remember folks: sharing tables is a Bad thing... and might land you in jail.

So what ever ended up happening with all this? Did you fight it or just pay the fine or what? Has anything been done since last time to protect any of the vendors? How about the legal council at the show suggestion, anyone push for that? I don't know what these table cost there but I do know that I'd be willing to pay a bit more if I thought it could keep me from going to jail. -Chris

This is for everyone not from Florida and is not familiar with our state motto-COME TO FLORIDA ON VACATION ,LEAVE ON PROBATION----people getting arrested for leopard geckos or whatever while real criminals conduct business as usual-So ridiculous-this event can always be held in another state-Brian O'Neill

I took the Defered prosecution plan. I had to pay $50 to the state of Florida, $50 to the Fish and Wildlife Comission, do 25 hours of community service, and pay the probation monitoring people $45/month for the 3 months of my "probation". The good news is, this keeps the offense off my record.

I had to do that once myself. Rather embarrassing to have to plead guilty to something you don't feel your guilty of, just to pay some fines, do some probation, so that in the end it's the same as not guilty, which you weren't in the first place. Texas is good at that one too.

I am glad that is all that came of it for you. It sucks how willing they are to put you through all of that just to extort a little money from you, and send you on about your life.

Rick

This was a senseless

act, based on a power driven man in a uniform that brings out the worst of the Fish and Wildlife in the state of Fl.

I am sorry that we do not have an organization that has the backbone to go after these kinds of people whowho relish in enforcing rules and regulations with this inspector Javert attitude. I was their, and saw the excitement in his mannerism as to turn my stomach.

Their are no positive reasons for a person of this sort to be a F/W officer. He should have been ashamed of himself for causing this hardship for a visiting vendor who innocuousley may have committed nothing more than an explainable infraction

I hope he reads these posts. JERRY TRESSER
