    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sorry if this is the wrong spot for his thread

But, I was wondering if anyone who breeds ball pythons here uses alternate food sources to feed heir snakes, ie: chicks,baby rabbits,etc. what are your experiences? Recommendations? I would like to try to get enough money to get snakes again but my parents nor friends who own the snakes also like mice or rats and where I am they are EXPENSIVE. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

If you can get them to feed on F/T, there are a lot of really good online vendors that offer them in bulk. I have used chicks to get my fasting snakes to start feeding again if they were stubborn, but the lack the necessary nutrition for ball pythons.

What about baby rabbits? I breed them for meat, and I always have some that pass naturally that I don't know what to do with, or is there anyone who sells baby rabbits for snakes? I understand they are probably a little pricey, probably more then rats and mice, but I'm curious:D

I just started buying f/t rabbits locally for my retics and the breeder has offered to freeze rabbit pinkies and fuzzies for my other snakes. I'm picking some up on Monday evening so we'll see how it goes. I figure even if my ball pythons don't eat them my smaller boas will, they're all little garbage disposals.

The prices are actually lower than rats and mice; a pinky is $.35 (equiv to a rat pup/weanling), fuzzy is $.50 (equiv to weanling/small rat), 1/2 pound rabbit is $.75 (equiv to sm/med rat), and a 1# rabbit (equivalent to a jumbo rat) is $1.25.

The only thing I would worry about when using pink/fuzz rabbits with balls (I can't imagine them eating anything larger) is the high milk/fat ratio they would have. I suppose as long as it was only once in a while, it might not be a big deal? I've only fed small adult rabbits to boas but stopped because the supplier was charging crazy high prices.

Let us know how it works out!

Will do, does the milk/fat ratio cause a lack of nutrition? I mean I will use rats and mice if there's no other way, but I'm trying to find a permanent food source other then those rodents to ease the minds of my peers. They are afraid of sickness from rats and mice and don't get me wrong I am too:eek: but as long as I can keep the snakes I'm good:) the only problem is they don't want the rodents around you know:D
