    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

For those of you who think you can get rich raising Leos...

Great post Marcia, and hopefully it will open some eyes for up and coming breeders. This is my first year breeding these little buggers, and lets face it they aren't exactly cheap. My bill may not be that bad considering i only have 8 leos, including a few of my new hatchlings, and a couple other misc geckos, but i feel for you guys, i mean some of those numbers... ouch. Its still a great experience for me though to work with these magnificent little reptiles, and i will probably have them until i am physically unable to care for them lol. I am going to try to keep my collection under twenty geckos too (pft yeah, maybe leos that is... :rolleyes: )

Hey Marcia, you should just loose the hired help and you should do fine....LOL
All I know is that you grossed a hell of a lot more than I did.....

Man, if I could just break even I would be thrilled, there are a lot of other hobbies/interests out there that have ZERO return other than the enjoyment and pleasure intrinsic in the pursuit itself...
Thats why they are called hobbies.... LOL

The way I figure it , with ANY living creature, making any real profit can be done only if you don't have an animals' best interest at heart, like with puppy mills as an example, and the almighty dollar as the bottom line.

If I did this for the money, I would have to call it "A Job" and the LAST thing I want is another "Job"

All things considered, if I did anywhere near as well as Marcia did with my "hobby", I would be able to take the family on a nice cruise every year just by doing something that I enjoy. But we all know that probably only a handful of people even make that much selling Leopard Geckos every year. For this reason alone, it is exactly why I should never mistake this "hobby" of mine for an actual "job". I don't mind cleaning up gecko tubs and handling crickets, but it sure would be a whole lot better if they (the geckos) gave me 3 weeks vacation also..... :raspberry

I always like when you do these post Marcia...there are always newcomers who need to see the light.

Unfortunately, I miss out on a lot of family vacations because I can't just leave for two weeks at a time without having to pay someone to come and care for the geckos while I'm gone!
