In a perfect world, there wouldn't be a need for incentives... people would give because it's the right thing to do... and in a perfect world there wouldn't be a need for the BOI.

I gave after some poking and some prodding (all my own mental poking and prodding) and I don't feel bad for a second. Whether or not I get rep points (silly thing if you ask me, but I like it anyway!) I will give what I can. This summer/fall when I have some animals to give up, I will devote a pair of nice ones to the auction/fund whatever it is called. Will I really care about the rep points? nah, because it's silly. Will it matter if I have some "high profile exposure" for the herps I'll be selling.... ? Probably. I'll probably profit off trying to help Rich. Is that a good thing? Well probably, because then I can afford my next donation to him. :)

I like Lucille's way of doing things. She sort of reminds me of a bulldozer. She doesn't let bad opinions get in the way of what ways she wants to help out, and so, when she goes for something it gets DONE. I think that is an admirable quality. It's not MY way of doing things. It's HER way of doing things. But it's all part of the fact that we all have our own unique personalities on here. Lucille makes this place more fun, but I don't really think she detracts from the true purpose: to find and expose the bad guys and keep them from profiting off others and endangering animals and the reputation of all herpers everywhere.
 
In my honest opinion, the people that are trying to help think of a name for the new forum are people that greatly value all the services that Fauna offers to them, and they just want to help give back to show their thanks.

I actually never even knew what reputation points were..... I guess more reputation points sounds nice, but I think thinking up names for the forum is challenging, and it gives me a fun way to pass the slow periods throughout my day.

Seems to me that most of us would be willing to give up some products here and there...perhaps a concrete forum just called Fauna Auction...biweekly maybe? I think it will draw some activity, and help out the site really well...very good idea, Lucille.

Jeesh,,,there is enough bad stuff going on around us that we shouldnt have to complain about the good things people are trying to do. If you want something to complain about..Buy something from "bearded Pets" :hehe:

If any of y'all have any contributions they would be appreciated; even token contributions solely for the purpose of gathering donations to help Fauna would be fine.
You may donate almost anything....goods: reptiles, husbandry items, art, Aunt Sophie's candy dish she gave you last Christmas but that does not go with anything you have, services, token items. Vendors may want to include a paragraph showing off their business.
You may NOT post: illegal items, inappropriate items (I am pretty liberal but if you think it might not be appropriate it probably isn't) adult items, and weapons which are illegal in either the sending or receiving state. You must be 18 to participate.
