Hello, I'm Al. Thank you for this great opportunity to help out with this forum.
I have been keeping reptiles since the age of 8. My first reptilian pets were garter snakes and painted turtles. Due to my age and the difficulty for me to care for the turtles, my parents made me release them and stick to local snakes.
My fascination with reptiles slowly grew until I hit 19 and moved to FL. When I moved there, I was first introduced to Ball Pythons. Within a week of living with my new roommate and her pet python, I was absolutely captivated by this animal. She eventually moved and I got to keep the snake. That was my first ball python and what started it all.
Since I moved back to Wisconsin in 1998, I have kept and bred a number of other species. My first attempt at breeding ball pythons was in 2001, I was successful at this attempt and this has further driven me to devote myself 100% to this species. I sold my other boids so I could concentrate solely on ball pythons. I have been keeping Regius this entire time with no problems or issues as far as health or husbandry. It also makes me feel good to produce flawless captive bred animals, in hopes to some day slow the import of wild caught animals.
If you are interested to see what ball python projects I am currently involved in, please feel free to stop at my website: NEWreptiles.com
