• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy FRAUD ALERT: ERIC IVINS, SOUTH CENTRAL HERPETOLOGICAL

Update:
Paypal closed my claim today. Eric never responded.....big surprise. Thank God for Paypal. If I ever feel compelled to be dump enough to buy something I've never seen from someone I don't know, I will use Paypal. Internet research on SCH was no help.

I said I would post my entire experience here once my claim was closed, but so many people have come forward since with the same scenario that I feel Eric's character has been well established. If he ever surfaces again I am sure it will be under a different name. If anyone thinks it still would be helpful to post my experience let me know and I will make good on my word and let Eric read it first to make sure it is 100% accurate.
Ron

Note time and date..---- I am still waiting... sigh.. myself.. not a response to my e-mail yesterday either.. Will see how the initial timeline by paypal over the dispute is addressed.. I did as a respect out of their concerns as ok simple solution.. no risk for anyone refund please..

Don't get it.. two people at least are happy to provide some evidence for peer review..
not to mention some Serious claims but the OP for waiting a YEAR, and then getting insufficient funds claims going.. Nothing.. no comment no response
Really what the heck!!..

If you want to know who is dropshipping from another location it'll cost you $5. It has been a reliable tool for me. Subscribe to strictly's list. These jokers post animals for sale within days or even hours of their arrival. I think you will find the "availability" startlingly familiar. What initially tipped me off, I purchased some snakes from a local "dealer" who posted lots for sale.. Rather than meet me at or near his address posted on fauna, he chose Stirling Rd. What is on Stirling Road? Strictly Reptile. Elementary dear Watson. So yeah these guys post Strictly's (and other wholesaler's)availability. Problem is Strictly sells out before the "dealer" gets enough orders to make the drive down. A happy side effect, you will know how much $ they are gouging you for as well.

Ron that doesn't always mean Strictly though in your case no doubt it did but when the exporters begin to fill orders usually they have a ton of animals which can go to several importers. If animals are available one place you can usually find them at others and then when an import shows up you find several people on Kingsnake offering the same thing...sorry for the derail, just wanted to expand on Ron's statement a bit. Some importers do get exclusives on certain things but usually depending on what it is they will sell off stock to the other importers to get like animals from them.

Really interesting stuff. That would explain why so many of these "importers" can not ever provide pictures of the animals they supposedly have for sale. I have asked several of them for pics and they just ignore me....as if I was wise to there game. Funny thing is I was not and their non response just made me think they were flakes. So there are not as many actual importers out there as we/I might think ? Can I deal directly with Strictly's ? Are there other importers that are as good or better ?

How about sticking to the topic, and not advertising for other wholesalers in a BOI thread, gentlemen.

This should be on offline conversation but yes you should be able to buy from them. Developing a relationship with someone you can trust to hand pick stuff is the best of circumstances.

I placed an order with SCH back on March 12th. Received half of my order two weeks ago with an email saying they did not know why only the half the order was packed but would ship the following week. Still have not received the second half of my order nor have they responded to any of my emails or phone calls. I now have a claim filed with PayPal. Hopefully will get a refund.

For the record, PayPal does not cover live animal purchases and usually will not honor claims filed in such circumstances.

That is in my experience.

You are partially correct. As noted in this thread PayPal will side with the buyer of a live animal purchase if the seller does not dispute the claim or if the animal was never shipped. The seller would have to provide a tracking number stating that the shipment was received. PayPal will not get involved with a transaction of a live animal if the claim is item received was not as described. So concerning live animal transactions as long as something was shipped that's as far as PayPal's protection goes, not the quality of the animal or whether it was live or dead upon receipt. But if the seller doesn't respond to a claim initiated by the buyer in a certain amount of time regardless of whether something was shipped or not PayPal will side with the buyer. Hope that makes sense.

Myself as others have found NO dispute, but also NO response.. so much for trying to resolve In person.. of course.. Pay pal will not step in in cases of "live animals DOA or in poor condition.. that IS NOT the topic.. but a simple FAILURE to deliver at all, or only partial order.. that IS within Paypals terms..

why no comment on what is the reason to accept payment and not fill a order, no comments about a year wait, and no funds for a refund.. .. why no comment about partial order then not resolving it ASAP??

May be 100% other factors.. still not good communication, or heck priority to pending customers and communication to them.. at least... does not anyone else find this weird??

I understand they were having health issues according to their facebook page but it would be nice to have some kind of response to emails or phone calls. They also said they were holding onto the animals until it was warm enough to ship them. My biggest question is, where are the animals?? Are they still taking care of them? Did they sell them off to someone else?

Other Negative/Confusing experience

I haven't been able to get a hold of Eric Ivins. I had an email conversation going but it ended abruptly, a little after others were having difficulty. I filed a paypal dispute after sending warning emails. I got no response and paypal sided with me, presumably due to a lack of response on South Central Herpetological's part. If you are owed money or animals I would suggest you seek recourse because you may not get a response from them.

From their FB, some time ago ... again, buyer be aware. And beware.

There were also previous posts, prior to the April 7th post I underlined in red, relative to other problems besides health issues (electrical outages, phone failures, etc)

Not saying there was outright deception, but those kinds of unavoidable, unexpected problems can certainly impact a business where live animals are concerned.

If they continued to accept money for orders they could not fulfill, and have not reimbursed those customers, then they are surely guilty of theft, IMO.

Its time to sue. as I am not US based, I humbly ask members of this forum for advice as to be best way to go about this to recover $3,000 that was sent to Eric in May last year?

I'm sorry I can't offer more helpful advice, but if you have an attorney there in Lagos, you might consult him.

Step 1: Retain an attorney in Florida to write a "demand letter" to SCH for the $3,000 that is owed, with a deadline for some sort of response.
Step 2: If no response or you don't like the response, the attorney can file suit on your behalf. Note that while $3,000 is under the small claims limit, with attorney fees the case will probably go to the state circuit court.

Of course, if they have no money to pay, then hiring an attorney is simply throwing good money after bad.

You could also come to the US yourself and file in small claims and represent yourself... but I imagine airfare isn't cheap.
