    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My fiance was working with a bunch of copperheads for research but he is done now and the place will be shutting down mid-October. We are trying to find homes for the animals so they do not have to be put down. If anyone who is in North Carolina or will be attending either the Charlotte Repticon, Columbia Repticon, or Raleigh reptile shows this fall would be willing to take one please PM me and let me know!

If you could it would be greatly appreciated! We have snakes of all ages, colorations, and temperament. Just let me know what you want (or don't want) and whether you want to come pick them up or meet us at one of the shows!

Here are pictures of the snakes.

Sorry for the state of their cages but it looks like the person currently taking care of them is really slacking...

This one only eats live. According to the "higher ups" we weren't allowed to feed the snakes live for "humane reasons" but we snuck him a couple...he's still a little skinny though...

This snake never ate for us, and is has quite an attitude, so unless there is someone willing to work with him/her then it may be better for it to be put down.

Sorry for all the water in the tank but his tank was stuck in the rack and I spent like 5minutes trying to pull it out, resulting in the spilled water everywhere. >.<

Only allowed 12 images....one more in a second post!

maybe a stupid question, but copper heads are native to that area..Instead of putting any of them down why not just let them go in a national forest or something..im sure they will start to eat when released?

Well, first all have found homes now. And second, it is against regulations to let an animal that has been a captive for so long be released back into the wild. This is because there is a risk for disease transmission from the captive animals to the wild population. Wild populations would not have had the chance to encounter some of the diseases that captive animals are exposed to, and so if you released an animal with one of those diseases it could be detrimental to the entire wild population and therefore may a lot of damage, even extinction, to that wild population. This is what happened with chytrid fungus in frogs. It is the reason why many frog species are threatened with extinction, and why other species are already extinct. It was all due to a captive animal being released back into the wild.

i really hate some of the stuff they do in the name of science at the expense of animals. they need to take more focus into properly caring for them while in captivity and having a plan laid out for where the snakes will go afterwards.
