    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Was moving around some plastic sawhorses next to the garage when I spotted this good sized spider nestled between them. Looks like some sort of jumping spider but much larger than I normally see. I'm guessing it would cover an inch and a quarter handily.

Been a couple of chilly nights, so I guess it felt snug and comfortable there.
 
Pretty sure that's a male Phidippus regius. I've kept a couple as pets before; they're interesting because they hunt by sight rather than by vibrations, which is pretty uncommon in spiders. So when you bend down to look at them in their cage, they tilt up and look back at you too.
 
Yeah, he was definitely keeping an eye on me while I was maneuvering the camera to get the pics of him.
 
Big female. Jumping spiders have the coolest personalities. I had some years ago that would come up to ledge of enclosure and take small crickets off tweezers.

I could be wrong but most of the ones I had years ago, the females were colorful and males drab. Opposite of a lot of other spiders. Jumping spiders pretty neat in behavior.
 
Don't know how I missed this, but I so adore jumping spiders! They and cellar spiders are allowed to live inside my house. All others are escorted out. The little jumpers always come into the kitchen and will actually sit on the widow ledge or counters and watch activity; full of personality!

Beautiful shot of a female Phidippus regius dark form. Been trying to find one for years. She has good otiosus genes showing, as well.
