    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Gargoyle (cinny/het red) question

So, a friend of mine claims that if you pair a gargoyle (cinny/het red) to anything you will never get gargoyles. Supposedly, it does a similar thing to a super stripe. A super stripe will only throw yellow bellies and spectors. A gargoyle thus, will only throw het red axanthics and cinnamons. He just had a clutch from a female killerbee to a male gargoyle pairing. From that pairing, which appears to have about 8 babies in it or so, he did not get a single gargoyle combo, however did get het red combos and cinny combos. He said that another breeder told him that you never will get an actual gargoyle from a gargoyle pairing. Has anyone else done a pairing where they used a gargoyle as the sire/dam and got a clutch of only het reds/cinnamons? Theoretically, you would not get normals from this as well if this is true. Just interested to see what happened with other people. Thanks tons! :D
 
I have no personal experience with this, but if they both act on the same allele then it is quite possible.
I will be interested to see how this thread develops.

This would be very interesting and drive me to believe the super black/Cinny/Red Axanthic is a complex similar to the Blue eyed Leucistic.

I also find it interesting that over the last several years a lot of new morphs seem to be extremely reactive with certain other morphs.
 
And the really interesting thing is that if they are like the blue eyed lucy complexes, the fact that the supers are so very different.
 
It would not surprise me if the het red was allelic to cinny and black pastel, might be a good question for Corey Woods...
 
Well, there has been discussion before on other forums (maybe even this one) about the het red being allelic to the cinny/black pastel gene. I just never thought it would affect it to the degree to which the animal would be unable to reproduce itself. My friend's clutch had 9 eggs in it, not a single gargoyle. I just also am wondering if the spider gene may affect it in such a way that would cause the pattern of the gargoyle not to show through in that clutch, but, who knows? Considering that a big breeder claims that the gargoyle cannot reproduce itself and what happened with this clutch, im leaning towards the fact that it is indeed true, but, two instances just is not enough proof for me. :)
 
They are the same Loci...just different alleles...thats why they wont reproduce...and not all Blue eyed lucy's in that complex are created equal...look at the supper phantom mystic potion etc...

This is going to be the case. And just like the BEL's the Gargoyles/Onyxs are not created equal either. From Green pastels, Het Reds, Black pastels, to Cinnys they all throw different looking offspring. Its an untapped genetic
phenomenon.
 
I can justify it by looking at results from breeding...there are 4 known alleles at this point for that particular gene....and the results say I'm right....
 
I wouldn't call Super Phantoms or Mystic Potions BELs because...well...they aren't leucistic.

Trying to clear up some confusion on my end.... How can something not be on the same allele but still not be able to reproduce itself? In other words, how can a Black Pastel het Red only produce Black Pastels and het Reds if the Black Pastel and het Red genes aren't on the same allele? The only way I can think of as to why that would work is that only one gene per locus can be passed on to offspring, but I thought it was only one gene per allele....
 
An allele is Black Pastel....cinny....het red...green pastel....all 4 are alleles that can be found in the same location or Loci in the Chromosomes...BUT....you can only have 2 alleles...1 from the dad and 1 from the mom...and yes...those are not blue eyed...but all interact and are allelle's in the same loci...good?

One gene pair per locus, might be a better way of saying it, since it isn't always the same gene...ie HRA/cinny, specter/YB, motley/hypo (boas).
Each parent gives one half of the gene pair from any given locus, so the offspring can't get both from one side.
(I don't know that "gene" is the correct term there, but it is easily understandable & commonly used)
