In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Id like to show some love for generalexotics.com

Now at first the site doesnt appear to be much, its mostly white, not all jazzed up like other sites... But thats probably because they spend their time taking care of the decent selection of critters they have instead of the site. It is regularly updated though. and anything you want to know thats not on the site.. Just ask them!

Heres some cool things about this site. And it has alot to chose from!

one: Everything is well organized so you can get directly to what you are looking for quickly. If Im looking for a blood python I know I can get on this site and hit snakes-pythons and boas- and scroll down. If they are out of stock it says so before you click on it.. which is nice. (Or if you prefer just type in what your looking for into the search engine on top left) if they're out theyll send you an email when they get them back in stock.

Two: The cart system will save your cart if your a registered member (free) and its super easy to use and the prices are competitive at their highest and downright a steal on some others....

Three: Almost everything is sexed, and from what ive bought so far, properly. If your anal about only having a female of a species, check the female box, click add to cart. No worrries. helps if you really dont want another male leo in your colony lol.

3: They have pictures of the actual critter for sale, and If its not the one your buying they will tell you. If you want a picture of the actual one your buying send them an email asking for one and they will send it.

4: And this is what stood them out for me. They will send you the feeding history of the animal with them (if they have been in stock long enough to even have one lol). So there isnt any guess work. I know that the house snakes I bought ate a last saturday so I know exactly when to expect them to eat again. Too cool.

So heres the personal experience part.

I live in alaska, so obviously the health of the critters that are shipped here are top concern for me. Its bloody cold here and I hate to pay for a snake popsicle. I talked to them about it, they reassured me and held my order for a day that was safest for the snakes to ship.

I bought a sexed trio of African House snakes.

I was sent an email when the order was processed for shipping along with a tracking number, for those of us who are concerned about the temperatures throughout the journey you know how comforting the tracking number alone can be.

Housies are known to breed at ridiculously young ages and I had assumed they wouldnt know this and send them all three in a deli cup together, or housed them all together at the facility so I was almost certian I'd end up with gravid females to nurse. ugh. but I knew that would happen.

But when they came in, they were in seperate deli containers, marked male or female, and packed with what appears to be fine grade aspen it was very cushy and I could tell that it must have helped with the stress being able to bury themselves in it and not being knocked around so much by it insulating the cups.

The females werent gravid which was better than I expected.

I opened the males cup to place him in his new tub (rack system) and I pulled him out and he immediately whipped around and bit me on the hand. I was like whoa fiesty... I havent had that happen before so fresh from shipping. I was a bit surprised but it as more or less a good sign. He has since then tamed down. All three of them ate f/t two days later.

There was no hassle at all. I had all the information I needed the whole time and afterwards they even emailed to check to make sure they came in alright. It wasnt your standard send me the money and its your problem now that ive had before.

Its too cold now to ship but if it wasnt Im sure I would buy from them again.

So if you are looking into them, they come highly recommended!

I wish that my transaction with them would have went as well as yours did.

A friend of mine was doing an order from them and told me to check out their site to see if there was anything I was interested in. I checked out the site and noticed that they had adult temporalis pygmy chams for sale. I needed an extra female for my group so I joined in on the order for one female adult temporalis pygmy chameleon.

The order arrived on saturday and on sunday I met up with the friends to pick up my adult female temporalis.

I noticed before I even got the container in my pygmy was not an adult. Not too big of a deal as they grow pretty quickly. The next thing I notice is my pygmy is not a temporalis but a R. brevicaudatus ( bearded pygmy chameleon) and the third thing i noticed was my pygmy is not a female.

So my new adult female Temporalis came in as a sub adult male R. brevicaudatus.

I have not emailed them yet but it is on my list of things to do today. I don't expect a whole lot on a $30 lizard but who knows they may surprise me. I will update this thread if I even hear back from them.

man im sorry to hear that. Ive got another order coming up through them, for a sexed pair of yellow throated plated lizards. We'll see how that goes. as for you being sent the wrong critter thats totally unacceptable, its been a month now did they ever get back to you?

They did get back to me a few times.

There was a couple emails back and forth. I was late at getting the message to them due to not having internet access at home. I did explain that too them but still never heard nothing back, no refund, no resolve.

I guess it could be my fault for not sending them the message the day it was recieved.

I hope you have better luck than I did.

I recently purchased two Leptopelis uluguruensis from general exotics. Overall I was happy with my frogs. They were packaged well and are in great health for WC animals. They had no trouble settling in and eating the very next day.

My only complaint is that I ordered a male and female and received two males instead. The cups they came in did not indicate male or female. But once I opened them and got a look I knew they were both male. Males have an unmistakable blue throat. The only reason I did not bring this to their attention is because when I checked the website the frogs I had purchased were out of stock. So I'm stuck with males.

Overall I would probably order from them again.
