Alright Jeff Answer This???
You know what I love about all you anti bush weenies? "Where are the weapons of mass destruction??" My guess is Syria! We tried the sanctions bit, and we were stalled by the French, and the Germans who stood the most to gain from Hussein's reign. So after they realized that the U.S. were really coming, they shipped 'em to Syria. I know you are going to tell me that they were never there in the first place but tell that to the Kurds and Iranians that were killed by the score from chemical weapons. The U.N. had been monitoring his chemical and biological aspirations for almost a decade. Now all of a sudden they just never existed? Or did the Hussien regime simply destroy them out of the kindness of their hearts? "You know we have been using these chemical and biological weapons as a deterrent for more than a generation, but ahhhh who needs them?"
He had them, he used them in the past, and do I doubt for a minute that he would distribute them to al-kaeda, or some other rogue group for the right price? Hell yeah! I for one am not willing to take the chance. I ask you was it worth the risk to have sarin, VX, botulism toxin, anthrax etc. unleashed upon the American public? 9-11 changed the world, we are no longer safe in our little enclave we call America. People who want to kill us are not going to shun chemical or biological weapons simply because we do not want them to have possesion of them.
Ever think that the reason we went into Iraq was to put the Iranians in a strangle hold? A friendly regime in both Iraq and Afghanistan sure sounds like a deterrent to me if I was an ayatollah. Maybe i would think twice about screwing with the U.S. if I knew that troops were on both my eastern and western borders.
As far as the men and women of our armed forces, I commend them, they are braver than I, and in my opinion they are heros, helping to ensure our security here at home. The 1000 lost are a tragedy, but a tragedy that is part or war. I feel this war is just, if it makes our shores even a miniscule amount safer for our children then it is the right thing to do. All of our service people are volunteers, they know what they signed up to do. They did not join the chess club, or the boy scouts, they joined the army, navy, air force, and marines. Even the national gaurd troops are members of the MILITARY! They fight wars, defend our country, and provide security for our people. Anyone in the service who feels they should not have to go to war signed up for the wrong line of work. The majority of our service people are proud to be serving in Iraq. They know that if we can secure an ally in the region, we WILL be safer in this world.
I suppose sitting back and waiting for another attack like 9-11 is more your cup of tea. I was not and am not now willing to take that risk. I am going to vote for a President who i feel is doing his best to combat global terrorism, and therefore keep me an my kids just a bit safer.
I would have it no other way.
And if my son or daughter were to volunteer to join the military force to protect this land and its people I would be proud, and would pray everyday for their safety, but i would know it was a choice they made, fully aware that the military is not a job fair, but a means of defending this nation.
So There....
