In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The Georgia Herpetological Society is proud to announce the return of the Georgia Reptile Expo. The Georgia Reptile Expo, held November 10-11, 2006 at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, will be the largest gathering of reptile breeders, wildlife centers and agencies, and the general public in Georgia! The Cobb galleria is home to many of the largest trade shows and conferences held in Georgia each year. We are excited to be able to host our show at such a visible location. Each day well over 500,000 motorist drive by the facility and its large marquee.

The Georgia Reptile Expo will be an exciting weekend with over 175 vendor tables and an additional 50 tables of educational exhibits. The educational exhibits will include local nature centers, reptile focused wildlife facilities and local reptile educators. We are planning on hosting several educational programs throughout the day that will offer the general public information regarding reptile as pets and reptile conservation in Georgia. In addition a large native live reptile and amphibian exhibit will be on display. The display will hopefully educate the public about what is living within the state and its importance to the overall health of the ecosystem.

The primary goal of the Georgia Reptile Expo is to generate proceeds that would fund the GHS Reptile Conservation Fund. The Conservation Fund is a source to provide grants to local organization in Georgia. These grants can be awarded for educational programs and exhibits, conservation driven research, or operational expenses incurred by centers and their reptile collection. The GHS also hopes that through its proceeds, it will be able to donate a percentage of funds for reptile research to local universities and the states non-game wildlife program.

The Georgia Herpetological Society is currently accepting vendor registrations for the show. Our unique styled show, coupled with vendors and reptile related educational centers and organizations, will create a herp related environment that should help you have a successful show. We will not play host to petting zoo’s, arcades, or other non-herp related programs. Our goal is to create a herp buyer friendly environment along with an educational element that fosters responsible pet ownership.

Table prices are very reasonable for a two-day show, with the first table priced at $125 and additional tables are $115 each. The Cobb Galleria charges $60 for electrical service, but to extend a helping hand with the high fee, the GHS is willing to cover 25% of the cost. This will place the electrical charge at $45 per vendor. In addition all out of state vendors must have a Georgia veterinary health certificate for their animals at the show. The GHS will cover this cost for you. All vendors must possess a current Georgia Department Of Agriculture Pet Dealers License. If you’re an out of state vendor, this can be obtained the morning of the first day. The cost is $50 and is valid for the weekend. Finally, we will be providing lunch for vendors both Saturday and Sunday. If you need extra lunches or badges please make sure to note that on your registration form.

In an effort to make registration as easy as possible, we are able to accept payment in the form of checks, money orders, and Paypal. We do require an added on 3% surcharge to use our Paypal service to offset fee’s charged to the GHS.

If your company is interested in becoming a part of this fantastic event, we encourage you to register early as space will be given to vendors on a first come first serve basis. For more information or to discuss your specific vendor needs, please contact Stephanie Patterson, the GHS Event Director, at [email protected].

Georgia Reptile Expo - Update

Things are really gearing up for the Georgia Reptile Expo. We have updated our vendor list with many more to come in the next couple of weeks. Hotel information should be up this weekend with three great locations to choose from.

A big thank you to Armstrong Crickets and Glass Cages for handing out our show flyers around the southeast. To date we have additionally handed out over 5000 flyers at our educational events around the metro Atlanta area. These flyers went into the hands of reptile enthusiasts and hobbyist. In addition, we have thousands of flyers going out to all of the Atlanta area pet businesses, animal hospitals, nature centers and other retail areas.

Check out our ads in the November and December issues of Reptiles Magazine. Reptiles Magazine is also featuring the Georgia Reptile Expo as the highlighted show in the December issue.

If you live in Atlanta or surrounding areas, be on the lookout for one of the GHS member’s cars with the Georgia Reptile Expo magnetic banners on it. Take down the tag and vehicle type. If your one of the first 100 replies to [email protected] we will give you a coupon for $2 off admission and a 10% of total purchase at the Patterson Propagations booth. One lucky winner within the first 100 will get a $25 gift card to the show to be used at any vendor table.

If you’re a vendor and have not received one of our personal emails to your company and would like more information, contact Stephanie Patterson at 770.965.0706 or [email protected]. We would like to invite you to join us for what will be the beginning of a great tradition.

Remember, all proceeds from the Georgia Reptile Expo will go towards the Georgia Reptile Conservation Fund.

Georgia Reptile Expo Update!

The Georgia Reptile Expo is just two weeks away!

November 11-12, 2006 at the Cobb Galleria 10am-5pm.

We still have vendor tables available for what will be a big public turnout. If you are interested in vending and have not contacted us, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

We are also excited at the large educational area we have set aside with many nature centers and organizations attending.

We have picked our t-shirt winner for this year and will debut the design on our website this week. www.georgiaherpetologicalsociety.org.

We have passed out over 15,000 flyer's to reptile enthusiast and supporters over the last 9 months at all GHS educational events in the greater Atlanta area. These events targeted potential reptile buyers.

In addition to the 15,000 flyer's above. We have placed adds in Reptiles Magazine, and several local media outlets.

We will be attending the Repticon Show in Columbia this weekend promoting the GHS and our event.

Our mobile billboards have been a huge hit, as we have heard from people all over Georgia who have seen them.

Don't forget, all proceeds from the show will go to funding the Georgia Conservation Fund. This fund will enable nature centers, zoo's, reptile rehabbers, and reptile educational companies a chance to acquire funds specifically for their reptile exhibits, research, or operational cost.

We look forward to seeing you at our show.

We will be there, Promoting Repticon Shows.

Mark it was a pleasure meeting you this past weekend at the Columbia Show. And we look forward to working together to support each others shows. We will see you this weekend.

Hey Cathy,
It's Mark's wife, Stephanie. Mark said you guys were great and he really enjoyed the show. He certainly left there with more animals than he brought with him! I'm looking forward to meeting you this weekend.

Just got home from the show. It was pretty good, had a decent selection and nice looking, clean animals. I picked up a hook, a ball python and some magazines. Link below for a few pics I took.

I really enjoyed the show today , almost as much as boys did. I really appreciate seeing the vendors using hand sanitizer for folks wanting to hold critters and big THANK YOU to the vendors who let my boys inspect , irritate and handle their animals even tho we weren't buying anything. My boys had a blast and were psyched that the vendors talked to them and answered their questions. For their first herp show the GA Herp Society gave them a great one.

AWESOME JOB GUYS !!!!!

P.S. Kris , don't forget that sweet deal on the boa cages .

I got stuck working most of both days, but really enjoyed what time I did get to spend at the show. There were some nice animals there and I ended up picking up some snakes and roaches.

Great time! Can't wait for next year!!!

It was a great small show. I agree with the vendors having the sanitizer on almost every table, it's such a cheap bit of insurance to help stop the transfer of stuff from one table to the next.

Bryon, the cages had completely slipped my mind when I made the original post. I am building a stand for them now and will post some pics in the Cage forum when I get them done.

2006 Georgia Reptile Expo Is Over!

The 2006 Georgia Reptile Expo is now over and it was a big success. This was the first year since 1998 that the Georgia Herpetological Society presented a show. A big thank you to our vendors, volunteers, speakers and staff. Without you, the event would not have been great!

Because of the show’s success, we will be able to begin to fund the Georgia Reptile and Amphibian Conservation Fund. For more details about the fund, please check out our website at www.georgiaherpetologicalsociety.org

We had over 2200 happy participants through the door, making this a great start towards next years show.! Thanks for coming out and attending our show.

Every vendor who came out for the show did well and we received a lot of positive feedback to help build for next year.

A personal thanks to Cathy and Danny Elrod of the Repticon Shows team. It was a great pleasure to meet another show team that is professional and ethical. I look forward to helping you guys out at your Atlanta show in January.

The show committee is planning the 2007 Georgia Reptile Expo. Mark your calendars for next November, details will be available in January 2007.
