In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well for my first season it been good. But now that it over I am having a hard time getting my prized male back on feed. At the start of the season he was 1150g but now he is down to 650. He bred 5 girls and they all gave me clutches. But now he will not eat. I have tried everything I know short of feeding him ASF. (Which I dont want to do.) I have made sure his humidity was rasied, I have separated him from the females, I have tried frozen and live rats and mice. Gave him a Hide and NOTHING!!! I know BP are notorious for there feeding habbits but the weight loss concerns me. Any Tips I havent thought of?????

I am lucky that my male who bred three of my females just ate for the first time in almost 3 months a couple days ago. He only lost maybe 100 grams though all season. I would be concerned too with that much weight loss. Apart from continuing to offer weekly I don't have any other suggestions. He won't starve himself to death. Maybe offer f/t and heat it up with a blow dryer right in front of his home a few minutes before you feed him to get that smell circulating.

Good luck with him!

I had the same problem with one of my males this season. I ended up taking a rat crawler and tossing it in his cage. It stayed in there probably a day and a half before it vanished. I'd try that and see if it helps.

I might have to try that. I think that now that he got a "Taste" of breeding he thinks its all the time. when I open.his tub he shoots out tounge flickering like crazy.

One of my breeder males wouldn't touch anything live. He would ONLY eat f/t or pre-killed. He since has switched (after over a year of only eating dead ones) to live. He'll still eat pre-killed or f/t, but live is so much easier...

Anyway, you might try a f/t or pre-killed, and leave it in all night long.

Are ASFs not available in your area?

I always wash them when they are done for the season. Figure if he smells like he has been breeding, maybe he thinks he is still breeding. Also change the bedding and wash the tub. Don't know if that makes a difference but it's what I do.

Make sure he has a nice warm hot spot at 90. Keeping him away from the girls and washing him and his tub sounds good to. I got 3 of my males back on feed with live rat pups left overnight, tiny hopper mice work good too. Once they get a little meal into them it seems to get things working and they get hungry again.

Thanks for all the tips. He finally ate a hopper after I dunked it in some chicken broth. Weird huh

That's great. Having a similar problem with some of my females after they laid. Washed them, tub cleaned out and still nothing yet. Been over a month. I'll keep trying. :-D
