In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently got a bearded dragon and the guy i bought him from showed me several pictures of him basking and he had some good colors to him. Now i know it could have been different pictures but considering the one toe nip he has was in every picture makes me feel better that it was the same dragon. He was yellow/Orange with sidebars. I have had him a week and he is just dull. He has all the appropriate lights and temps and in a 40 gallon breeder. Could it be he's just stressed from a new environment? Any help is appreciated.

Here's pictures to compare.

Hi. To me it looks like he sended you the wrong dragon. Yes they dull down if they are stressed out but not like that. You should still be able to see some yellow on him.

I actually picked the dragon up. I pointed it out at pick up and he said he will brighten up once he warms up and he wasn't that dark at first. He showed me several pictures showing the color. He did lighten up some the first night and started seeing a little color. But now nothing. Just looks normal. He has text me to check up on him and see if he's colored up any. He did mention that he was in a tank and could only see out the front. So he had more security there. Mine is open all around and smaller tank. Idk. Just thought I'd ask. He offered for me to come to his house to pick him up and see his other dragons. Here's another pic that's supposed to be him before I got him.

Oh. Well If he did ship him I would assume he us stressed out. But if you picked him up he should bot be stressed. Even if it was a little cold

I got him Sat night. I did give him a bath and he wasn't as dark as that picture posted but still never shown signs of yellow or orange. Figured a warm bath would brighten him up. Nothing.

A dragon's color can change drastically when they are stressed, and stress can last quite a while when they go to a new home. This doesn't happen to all dragons, but it does to some. Also, do you know if the pics he sent you were current, because if not he could be heading in to a shed. Another thing, if the dragon was under a hot lamp + the pic was taken with flash the color could be intensified. You mentioned that it has a toe nip, so if you look at it in the pic and compare it with the toe nip that he has, is it the exact same ? That would be a good indicator of whether it really is the same dragon.

Thanks for the replies. I think it was stress without a doubt. Moved him to our bedroom and one day walked in and he was bright orange with awesome purple sidebars. He did go into a shed as well. I've had dragons before but never had one change that drastically in color

There you go, I'm glad to hear it ! They really can change pretty drastically at times and I know you were thrilled to walk in and see the dragon you wanted. :)
