In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

getting " envenomated " can get you ........

great reaserch Rick. im glad ppl are now learning about the venom's evolving in crotalus species and other venomous spp around the world.

Hey, Vinny,
If you were referring to my comment about how you walked before the accident, that was meant as a joke (I just noticed that I didn't include a LOL, so I'm sorry if you took it as an insult or jab). I also stated that a minor pelvic fracture wouldn't lay you up for too long. As for the lumbar fractures, even minor vertebral fractures are something of a big deal...if for no other reason than what can happen if they are stressed. You mentioned bending over and turning/twisting as being the things that hurt - personally, I am surprised that you weren't told not to do those things...I guess I would have expected some sort of brace to immobilize/stabilize your lower back. Orthopedics may not be my specialty, but I am exposed to it regularly. I understand that you felt attacked, but be more careful about throwing comments around about who doesn't know what...you don't know who is out here (healthcare professionals keep reptiles, too).
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better

thanks hhmoore. yes i thought you saying about how i walked was a jab. but you cleared that up now. everybody that i told what happened to me said the same thing about no brace or anything. so i try not to move my back as much as possible. which for some 1 like me that is always doing something it's kind of hard. but im trying, and im feeling a little better. im sorry for the comment about you guys not knowing about injuries. but like i said im on some fairly good pain killers which i think makes me do more than i should lol but it's not really funny. thank you for your concern. thanks again

ohh LUCILLE thats an insult on u keeping reptiles better. im just kidding but at least if you work with hot's you know the right medical treatments. lol

Be careful, that's how injuries get made worse - sometimes pain is a good thing...it stops us.

Hey Vinny......What's going to keep you from handling hots again? You have been bit twice in a relatively short amount of time.

I think your behavior is totally irresponsible and "teaching" other herpers of the dangers of venomous reptiles should not be your responsibility just because you have been bitten twice.....

Your whole situation isn't too cool to all the responsible folks that work hard at keeping their hot populations safe.

with all the legislation going on.......all someone has to do is type and click away to find your unbelievably shameful story.....

that is a great question.. and i do still work with venomous snakes, the only reason i tell people about my envenomations is to tell and remind them not to be careless, like i was with my 2 bites. i have never been bit handling a venomous snake. i just trusted them which is the biggest mistake's i have ever made. and i WILL NEVER DO AGAIN everyone has their own opinions about me but, i am a responsible hot handler NOW. i have made mistakes and i learned from them. everyone who ask's me a question or any of the reptile semanar's i do, people think im great. my envenomations are in the past now, their is nothing i can do about it. reptiles are my life and have been since i was a little kid growing up in southern florida and that will never change. im going to go to school for biology and get a job at a zoo where i can teach people about reptiles on a expert level, i just need the degree. and i dont mind if people look up my bites. you call it shameful i call it a bad decision. i know ALOUT more about reptiles than many other people my age. i never had anyone teach me about them or show me how to work with them. i did all my own reaserch either in the feild or in books, internet ect..im sorry if my bad decisions make you mad, but their is nothing i can do about that now it's water under the bridge. now i can just look forward to the future and see what great things i CAN and will do in this awsome world of herpetology.. thanks for reading....

That would

be a responcible and experienced Hot keeper that is willing to take you under his/her wing. To train you in the PROPER handling and husbandry techniques that keep our HOT interests safe from bad press and resulting legislation. :toiletcla

like you need a mentor and a spell check key! :>poke2<:
funny - I was going to compliment him on the improvement...you should have seen some of his initial posts.

Vinny,
A mentor is sort of like a tutor...in this case, basically, somebody to show you the right ways of doing things

Gentleman.....I think the problem we are having here is Vinny knows everything about reptiles and hots and doesn't need a mentor. It is he that desires to be the mentor for all the rest of us or other new and inexperienced hot keepers......

Vinny, time to take a step back and learn from those who are far more experienced than you. A true teacher is also a student.

i agree with you junkyard. i do not know everything about reptiles. but i do know alout, and i love to teach people esp kids about them. until my old job at a local pet store closed down, i did semanars about reptiles venomous and non-venomous all the time. see i was never educated by anyone. everything i know about reptiles i taught myself. and i read alout of everyones posts here on fauna and i have learned alout from what you guys and say. and im glad that we are on the same page now..
