    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Awww.... I hate dental work. I'm a complete wuss when it comes to this stuff. :crap: I take fairly good care of my teeth, never really had any cavities or anything, but I guess I can't help it this time. I know I put it off for a while though. I was told years ago that they were all impacted, but my dentist said we didn't have to get them removed until they started bothering me. Then they started to about... two years ago? :rolleyes: I just hate going in to the dentist and oral surgeon sounds even worse, so I tried to delay the inevitable. :p

I don't think it'll be that terrible or anything, I know it's minor/routine, I'm just not looking foward to it. ;) I guess I get the anesthetic through an IV line. Bleh! Needles! *gag* :ack2: In the meantime, we're going out tonight for my "Last Supper" and I'm thinking a steak house! <3 Because after that I'm foreseeing nothing but soup and pudding for some time. :rofl:

Oh well, everyone I know has already had it done anyways. Might as well join the party. :D Speaking of which, I gotta ask -

Good luck! I'm getting my three pulled sometime in February. Actually, they're not being pulled, they're going to be pulverized because they're all impacted. Joy. I'm 30 so I'm a bit late in the game for this shindig. Let me know how yours goes!

I'm curious though, and you don't have to answer if you don't want, but why are you only getting three removed? Did the other come in normally?
I ask because just one of mine is sticking out some on my lower jaw, the others are all hidden and don't bother me any. (Yet anyways) So my dentist told me I only needed that one troublemaker out, but advised me to get them all removed while I was there. Other people seem to be saying the same "Might as well have him yank them all while you're there" thing too and it makes sense I think unless you could actually get real chomping use out of it... I was told that maybe someday if you choose to keep them and then get a molar pulled later on in life, they could bring your wisdom tooth up and use it as a replacement. Kinda like a spare tire. :rofl: He said it was unlikely though. :p

Wisdom teeth, even if a molar is pulled, never really move into a good enough place to really use. They seem very prone to decay no matter how well you take care of your teeth. I have had all 4 of mine done but I did once side at a time. When you have wisdom teeth done, you really have to have your mouth open super wide for a long time and even with the little platform in there to help you.... it makes the joints hurt really bad. The side you have it pulled from will feel like someone really big and nasty hit you really hard right on the joint! My suggestion is fif they dont bug you? Do one side at a time.

Must be the time of year :( I was just the dentist monday... not planned! Long story short, I thought I had a sinus infection... nope, seems it was an infection in the upper teeth that was getting worse and worse so.... because I am like you and hate the dentist, I waited til I had an absess in the Roof of my mouth to go in and Voila! I now need to have all my upper teeth removed! I have always had really good teeth but somehow an infection started and now I really have a mess to deal with :(

I've had all mine pulled. (Insert hillbilly joke here)

I hate the dentist, so I put things off *way* too long that could easily have been fixed in the beginning. Thankfully, I did find a wonderful dentist/oral surgeon who worked hard to keep me from freaking out. Now I'm just sad I have nothing left to pull, as I found out I love the gas! I offered to let them pull out my toenails too as long as they'd give me the gas. LOL

You'll do just fine. Good luck!

I don't know... getting two procedures instead of one almost seems like drawing it out for me. It probably would be easier to do half at a time, but it'd be longer, and I just want to get this whole thing over with and behind me as soon as possible! :p

I'm so sorry to hear about your absess though, that's absolutely terrible! :unhappy: Forget my lil' thing, I'm wishing you the best! Hang in there! What a terrible time for things to act up too, right during the holidays... :(

Yeah, I think if I was a dentist then the procrastinating patients like myself would drive me crazy. ;) I'm not though so I don't blame you in the least, I don't think there's a human being out there that actually likes going in to them.... Although your laughing gas (isn't that what they use?) addiction may come close. LOL :p
I don't know if I'm getting the gas or not. Instead of having a consultation/x-ray appointment before the surgery appointment, they've joined them both together that way I don't have time to think about it. I get the explanation, but only have a few minutes to hyperventilate about it before they put me under. Works for me! XD

LOL yep, there is that. I would get them done in one go if ya dont mind the acheing jaw afterwards! :) For me? that hurt far worse than the places they pulled the wisdom teeth from. Maybe I am just put together funny? LOL

no worries... atleast it waited til after thanksgiving and its long enough before x-mas... but after x-mas? yeah, I am Not looking forward to that!! That is when the appointments start. I have lots of teeth left to pull out too. Most of my teeth are good to look at but seems the infection effected the roots :( Thanks for the good luck back! I think I will be needing it. hehe I dont usually mind having something new to B!tch about but this I would rather never even Think about LOL
 
All 4 of mine were came in sideways/impacted, but did not bother me at all so dentist never pushed it.

Everyone I knew who had wisdom teeth pulled all complained about how painful it is, taking days off from school/work, popping pain pills left and right... that I kept putting mine off. Eventually the time came that I was forced to finally get them taken out when one literally just crumbled to pieces while I was chewing gum.

I was expecting the absolute worst since I was getting all 4 done at the same time...and was totally disappointed.

Went in, they stuck an IV with some sodium whatevers that spun the room in like 5 seconds... about 20 minutes later I wake up... no pain. figured ok... novacaine hasn't worn off. later that day.. still no pain. Gum areas were a little sore but no more so than if I had gotten my teeth cleaned on a normal check up. I never got to pop a single codine for pain. no swelling/looking like a chipmunk, no bruising, no bleeding. ... never got to skip a single day of school/work. bah. totally felt cheated.

:rofl: That's awesome! You may have lost a cool survivor story, some extra pity, and time off - but I'm happy for you! Couldn't have had it any better! :D Hope I get cheated as much as you did! :p It seems I'm off to a good start since I already know I'm not getting time off. This is my Christmas vacation I'm on right now. So relaxing... ;)

Of course, I don't care what anyone says about the wisdom teeth not being anything at all about wisdom, I certainly don't feel as smart as I did before they came out..... ;)

After all, I PAID someone to do that to me, so how smart is that?

LOL I've always known there must be some reason for that name. Obviously there's nothing wise in the design of those flawed chompers, so the only possible answer I can think of is that there must be extra brains stored in there or something. I'm so sure. And here my dentist was telling me I'd be smarter afterwards! :rofl:

Dentist: "Once the wisdom teeth are out, would you like us to remove the stupid teeth as well?" :p
 
I sure hope so!! I am sure it will go just fine! The sockets the teeth came from hardly hurt me at all. I think I took meds a couple times after the novacane wore off and then just went on with my day. Had to rinse often to keep them clean but that was about it :) Just had sore jaws afterwards... but that was it and that only took a couple days to go away. I did wake up once During the process tho and seen the dentist kinda sitting on my lap swearing LOL Seems he got more of a work out then I did that day! hehe the teeth didnt wanna come out the easy way LOL

I had mine taken out about 8 yrs ago when I was 20. The surgery part wasn't bad but I didn't rinse as much as I should have and ended up with dry sockets. That was miserable even with the pain pills. So good after care is the best advice I can give you.
 
I don't tolerate painkillers or anesthesia well, and the last thing you want to do with open holes in your mouth is puke. I'm okay with dentists and needles, so I was awake with only local shots. The impacted one hurt quite a bit for a few days, but the rest were not too bad. Best of luck!
