In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all,
Real new to this forum but not to the hobby. I was wondering if all you experienced Indigo keepers/breeders could chime in on this post and give me some advice on legally obtaining Indigos.

I currently keep Rat snakes and pythons, and am a biologist that does Nature and science workshops with kids and schools.

My experience with Indigoes and their kin is only from the wild where I have observed them in The everglades of Florida and in in texas. I will never forget the sight of 8-10 foot specimens gently slithering thru the saw grass and hammocks of the glades.

I would very much like to try to breed them.

I am located in Connecticut and would really appreciate hearing from you all.

Thanks,
brew

Legally obtaining indigos is easy. If you can legally keep them (check your state laws) you can just buy one from an in-state breeder. If no in-state breeders are there for you, you can contact an out- of state breeder. The two of you do the work to get the permit (easy paperwork) and then you get the snake.

It isn't really a big deal, just an hour or so preparing the papers amd a small fee.

Good luck on getting the best pet snake in the world.

Indigo acquisition..

Doug has provided you with the sage advice of a seasoned pro. Follow it to the letter and you will have indigos before you know it..
The only thing I would add, would be to check into the acquisition of Texas Indigos, as no permit is required, outside the Great State of Texas for such.
Also, if yo uhave never kept Drymarchon, you may wish to acquire a Black-tail or Unicolor first, as both make excellent starter Drys.
Don't worry, you will become obsessed with them all, attempt to acquire at least a pair of each sub and become a true member of the Drymarchons anonymous society!! Hey, it's only a six step program, as there are only six subs available!!

Best regards,

Jeff
