• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Getting threatened for BOI posts ...

So, I posted my first ever bad-guy post on the BOI after getting scammed awhile back, and after quite awhile of back-and-forth with a very nice cop, got my money back and figured the case closed.

Just this morning I got an email from some guy who claims to share the same name as the kid who scammed me, asking me to remove the post from this site. When I told him that was not possible, he of course threatens to sue me for "libel." (There are so many reasons why that is beyond asinine, not the least of which is the fact that it can't be LIBEL when it's TRUE, but anyway ...)

My question though is, assuming this isn't just the scammer trying to get his name removed (which I think is more than likely), would it even be possible for this creep to take me to court? I know he wouldn't WIN, but I really don't want my time wasted by some dink who doesn't understand basic concepts like identity.

I'm sure I'm just being paranoid, but this has been such a hell week for me I wouldn't put it past the universe to lay some really stupid court time on me, just for kicks ... o_O

Sure, totally possible to take you to court over it.

The problem is, depending upon what state you're in, you can counter sue him after you win for damages and your own attorney fees. Including the fees it takes to sue him for suing you.

I would advise him to have his attorney contact your attorney and to stop contacting you directly. If he does again, bring it up with the local authorities and see what you can do about a restraining order. Then he can go to jail for emailing you.

I get threatened with those kinds of lawsuits all of the time. Nearly all of them don't have a clue about the expense involved just filing that lawsuit so it's all just bluster and noise. No real attorney would ever take on a case like that simply because there wouldn't be enough money in it for them. Their client could never prove enough damages to make the claim worthwhile. None could ever actually win such a case. They are simply trying to scare me (good luck with that!) into doing their bidding with their threats.

My policy is that anyone who mentions anything to do with lawsuits, legal action, etc., in an email just gets ignored and not replied to. Most of those are just looking for someone to argue with anyway, and I simply don't have the time to give them for that purpose.

Tell them to have their lawyer send you a written letter of intent on letterhead. Otherwise, ignore it. The idea that they would be able to find a lawyer stupid enough to bother with a online comment about someone that THEY say isn't them is laughable.

Yeah, I'm about 90% sure it's the same kid ... The more I think about it, the more sure I am.

I mean, I offered to clarify on the post that they were not the same person. If they really WEREN'T the same person, you'd think he'd be more than happy to take me up on the offer! I mean, Jeez, if another "Kitt Hollister" started ripping people off, I wouldn't be happy about it, but I wouldn't want that information suppressed just because we have the same name -- and I sure as shinola wouldn't think that someone telling the truth about that other person was somehow "libel" against me!

Plus, the emails exhibit the same macho posturing and pseudo-maturity as my correspondence with the first kid ... I'd bet anything it's the same @#$%@.

I blocked his (new) email addy ... I'm done with this creep.

... I Googled the "new" email address and found it only referenced on this list of addresses. This may be getting a tad off-topic, but ... Does anyone know what the heck this list is for?
