In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi guys,

I am a new member and would like to congratulate everyone ona very informative forum, the best one I could find (for my question :) )
My problem is this:

- I have got a +/- 6 month old bp female. We bought her at about 3 months, and was told she was captive bred, but later found out she is wild caught.
Initially, she did not want to eat, so we tried a live mouse fuzzy (advice from the pet shop) and she started eating, she has been eating regularly for the last 2 months, but if it doesnt move (by itself) she isnt interrested. We have tried everything (stunned, freshly killed, exposed brain, cut off nose, first live then stunned / freshly killed) except the chicken broth. 3 weeks ago, we decided to give her a rat fuzzy, the thinking being that they cant harm her as much as the bigger mice she was eating, and she went for it straight away. This week, I could only get 2 smaller rat fuzzies, and this is what happened:
- She grabbed the first one on the butt, and then swallowed it butt-first. The second one, she ignored for about 10 mins, then promptly sailed over and tried to swallow it (live) When it kicked, she constricted it for about 2 mins, and started swallowing it. When it was halfway down, it started kicking again (with me having a bloody hart attack), but down it went. She has swallowed a mouse butt-first before.

How do I get her onto stunned or f/k ? How long can I try with her not feeding. In the past we have tried, but if she doesnt take, she gets what she wants the next day, as I have heard of lots of feeding problems, and she is eating (although live). I am gonna have a nervous breakdown ! I really dont want her starving with us trying alternatives, but I dont want her head bitten off by a rat if she tries to swallow it alive !!

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers guys,

Isamu

I work with all my snakes and get them to accept stunned prey off tongs. After they readily accept stunned prey off tongs, almost all of them will take F/T off the tongs. The hardest snakes to convert that I've worked with, unfortunately for you, are the ball pythons. All I can say is keep trying.

Thanx :)

Hi guys,

Thanx for the info :) How long can she go without food without ill effects ? I want to try for a couple of weeks, but I dont want to feed her live if it doesnt work the first week. What is tailing a mouse/rat ?
