    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Giving back..

For those of you who are working with Eastern Indigos, especially for those who have obtained USF&W Interstate Commerce permits, I wonder if you recall the portion of the permit questionnaire, Section A question 11, regarding your readiness to partake in cooperative breeding and / or willingness to contribute data to a database or studbook.
I would like to know who would be interested in participating in registry which would identify individuals working with Drymarchon spp. and the animals they are working with, especially D. couperi and D. m erebennus. I am also interested in knowing who would be willing to contribute captive produced specimens, to be donated to zoological, educational and research entities. There are simply too many people working with Drymarchon and too many worthwhile facilities in need of specimens, so I believe a centralized “clearing house’ for donated specimens would greatly benefit both sides, as such would allow private breeders to develop a working relationship with zoological and educational entities. If anyone would be interested in in such a project, please post your ideas, willingness to participate and concerns…

Best regards,

Jeff

I just wanted to bring this thread back up top so that some of our new blood will get a chance to respond. This is an extremely important issue. We hold the future of a species in our hands. I think we all need to recognize that the overall health and longevity of the captive gene pool is our responsibility. Not only that, but it is an aw some privilege! And this would take a giant step in that direction. Taking care of what we have, and giving specimens to zoos, and universities is just plain good karma. Not only for us as breeders but for this species as a whole. I am currently in communication with several zoos, in trying to work out ways to extend their indigo collections, as well as my own, and to get some into indigos who would not otherwise be doing so. I am also in the beginning stages of learning about, and hopefully some day, implementing artificial insemination, as a means to bolster the captive gene pool. And possibly down the road, this may prove to be a valuable technique for helping wild populations which have become fragmented, and isolated. Only time will tell. But only time, and pressure will yield results. This is our responsibility. If we don't do it,...who will?
