In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

San Diegians there is a man Hiroshi who runs a reptile/smoke shop in hillcrest. The care he provides for his reptiles is ridiculous there are no heatpads or uvb lights and the tanks are dirty its disgusting. I mean snakes dont poop that much. His snake tanks are full of snake turds. If you dont believe me look up glass jungle google it go and check it out. I called the aspca months ago they said they would check it out his shop is still running maybe we need to send more complaints. I dont know i want something to be done about it there were animals dying there real bony and sickley if I could I'd shut it down myself.

Hmmm....Bongs, Balls, and Boas?

Doesn't seem like a natural retail mix to me, despite what Patrick Malloy might think.

I hope you or someone else has luck getting them reported. Sounds like a sad story.

yeah i tried everything already and no results but i hear about them shutting down other shops out here with neglected puppies and kittens. What about the dragons man i wouldn't doubt he smokes pot and trys to get them high and causes respiratory infections. I guess ill just have to wait and see what happens.

This place is so gross. He also had normal beardies and labeled them as " translucent". Awful care. He said he also reptile sits for a low cost.... but the bearded dragons he was sitting for had no heat or uvb!!! I am glad I'm not alone. I'm also located in SD and hope to shut this guy down. The conditions were deplorable.

Me either I think he posted them or his friends that he sells weed to im pretty sure it's like a bodega. Don't get me wrong though I dont have anything against stoners, but those animals are dying. He was selling a beardie for 500 dollars and it looked like it was dead already. I have beardies and it pissed me off. Idk what to do though. He will get caught up soon hopefully.

I stopped by there last time I was in town.It was bad.The best thing you could do is pay a homeless guy to stand outside the store spinning a sign that says what this guy is all about. Wouldn't cost much and those sign spinners are everywhere.

Heroshi really is the scum of the earth. I unfortunately supplied a few frogs and snakes to his shop before I knew what he was all about. I have only stepped foot in his shop 4 times, these are my experiences.

One day I took some stock to the "Glass Jungle" and brought my wife and kid along for the ride. He was wasted on wine (still pouring more for himself) and cursing up a storm in front of my family and the rest of the customers. That was my last straw, or so I thought.. :(

He continually made numerous excuses why he couldn't come up with the money he owed me so I was forced to stop by his shop again and again.

Over a short time I saw many animals dying and dead in their cages due to neglect.

He knowingly sells kinked, infested, and infected animals. :NoNo:

He has a revolving door of "employees" which all have the same "what the heck am i doing here" look on their faces.

No heat pads. No UV lighting. No basking lights. No running water. No drip or mist systems. Most of his snakes live in a tub of water to eradicate their mite infestations. In fact he will scream and yell at customers to shut the door to keep in the precious and very expensive "heat" in.

His shop smells so strongly of uric ammonia you literally have a sore throat days after a visit there.

He continually brags about himself/tells stories which may or may not be true:
"I toured with Guns & Roses to take care of Slash's boas"
"I was on ESPN for MMA fighting."
"I was the fist person to successfully breed crested geckos in captivity"
"Oh yeah, I dated Philippe de Vosjoli's daughter"
"Im best friends with Bob Mailloux and the guys at sandfire dragon ranch"
and more blah blah..

This guy keeps his door locked so he can screen every person who walks in his shop.

He will stop mid conversation to run outside to invite an attractive lady to come "browse" his shop. He has done this many times in front of me and other customers. if you are not attractive or you look like you dont have money he will simply not let you in the store.

He keeps his prices extremely inflated and will immediately hike up a price for impulse buyers.

I have witnessed him make a customer flat out cry. I hope she comes on to tell her side of the story.

Pet stores and reptile stores are for families and people of all ages. Bong shops are not.

He still owes me money, but this is one time I know when to cut my loses.

In short, please dont waste your time with this kook.

I started out giving him a fair shot. My boyfriend always thought he was a tool. It really is a shame. He is just far too shady. We had a trade worked out, I gave him a 32inch flat screen, and cleaned his nasty tanks and actually tried to put together nice terrariums. (if you go into his shop the day gecko terrarium I built is still up and has not been cleaned since I build it almost a year ago. In trade I was to receive a hatchling albino ball male. He not only backed out of his deal (after my boyfriend helped him install the tv!) But he blamed me for not being able to watch the game. Apparently he wanted me to pay his cable too?

I just have a very bad opinion of this person. A few weeks ago I refused to sell him a few of my high end reptiles, no animal of mine will be sent to a condition like that!

I saw the set UPS that could have been nice if they were clean and lit up. Have any of you other ppl that have been there tried reporting his situation yet. That guy is a douche bag .

I went in this place by mistake when I was younger visiting San Diego! We were on our way to LA for Disneyland and stopped for burgers and dad and I went to check out the reptiles. I only had anoles then, but I remembered being horrified seeing such miserable animals in a miserable place! I hope it gets taken down asap!

I went in his store one time when i first moved to San diego. I was appalled at the condition of the animals and how dirty everything was. I asked about the conditions of the animals and was giving several lame excuses. I had a severly thin sunglow boa strike at me each time i walked by. He had rats for sale and said he bred his own but all of the boas in store looked like they were starving. He also had a lepoard boa female he said was gravid in plastic tub with a lamp for heat, i flat out told him she was too small to be bred( she was barley larger around than a bananna. I tried reporting him as well, but i believe he is still in buisness some how. I hope they seize his animals and throw him in jail for neglect and abuse.:angry::angry:

Won't give me my money back and I'm disabled-please help

I'm probably the person that was listed on here as the customer crying (or maybe not since I bet it's happened tons of times).
My experience with this guy has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a retail owner.
First of all, I have been into reptiles and the industry for over 15 years. I used to work in pet shops and used to breed reptiles.
I especially love chameleons and when I came across some extra money in January, I decided to get a panther chameleon.
At this particular time, I could not find any that I liked from some of the other reputable stores in San Diego and decided to give Glass Jungle a try.
The shop was disgusting but he did have some beautiful panthers that he just got in and I figured that I would save one of them.
Unfortunately, I have Chronic Lyme Disease and was just diagnosed with it about a year ago.
About an hour after I got the chameleon set up, I started having seizures and all sorts of fits. I went to my doctor the next morning and he said no reptiles until I was cured since my immune system is so shot that I cannot risk even having a simple little chameleon at my house.
That morning, NOT EVEN 18 HOURS later, I called Hiroshi and told him the situation and he said "we could work it out". I never saw ANY POSTINGS of his return policy but assumed that if it was for health reasons, he would give me a refund.
When I got the store, Hiroshi told me that I would get my money back "eventually" and that for now he would give me store credit. He said he already deposited my money (I paid in cash) and paid part of his rent with it but that the second he got some more money, he would give me back my money.
I told him no, that I needed my money back and argued with him for about ten minutes about it. He said he had a no return policy and that he never even gives store credit so I was lucky and THAT HE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR. He said he would sell MY REPTILE (I Had him for less than 18 hours) for me and that once he sold my reptile, I would get back my money. I thought this was total BS but since I could not take the chameleon back to my house, I had no other option than to accept this.
At the time, he made it seem like I would get my money back very quickly but I have been calling him every other week for nearly 10 MONTHS and still nothing. Every time it's a different excuse. "Oh, it's slow around here. Give me a couple of weeks". Or "Let me just sell some other chameleons and then you can have your money".
I have gone into his shop to plead with him with no luck. I hobbled in on my my cane with my boyfriend and instead of him being reasonable, he told me to get out since my emotions were hurting his business. I was being completely professional until he started getting defensive and rude. Then he told me that he thought that my boyfriend was going to beat him up and "How dare I bring him with me". I can barely walk and barely drive so of course I'm going to bring my man with me.
The last time I spoke with him, he promised me he would start "Making payments" to me next week. I told him I cannot wait another day for this money since my disability has been put on hold and I can barely afford to eat. I haven't paid rent yet and I'm out of all my medications and am getting really close to this illness overtaking me completely.
I have no idea what to do. I need my money back. I've tried selling my credit on craigslist but have had no responses yet. I am now thinking of taking him to small claims court but that process takes forever and is a huge stress and I need my MONEY NOW.
The main thing with Lyme is that it is bad to be stressed out, and HIROSHI HAS DONE NOTHING BUT STRESS ME OUT. He is just the worst person I have ever met in my life.
Please help if you have any thoughts or ideas. I cannot handle this right now.
Thanks!!!

It is unfortunate that your physician decided that you can't keep your chameleon...but you probably should have considered your health situation before making your purchase.
Having been involved with a pet store in the past, I can say that No Cash Refunds is not an unheard of policy for animal returns. You'd be surprised at the number of reasons that find to return animals. Yes, impulse buys & the associated remorse (for whatever reasons) are common in pet stores...and it seems that your case fits that category (that doesn't mean your health concerns aren't legitimate, just that it seems you didn't think it through well, and subsequently wanted your money back).

Unfortunately, given the conditions you described, I wouldn't hold much hope in them keeping a chameleon alive long enough to sell it to somebody else....and, if they do, from the sound of things, they'll be looking to cut their losses and not turning over any cash.
