In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello-
My fiance' and I gave each other a week in Key West for Christmas and I was wondering if anyone had any info about what herps could be found there. Thanks in advance!

Well, if you are going to key largo then you can find yokay gecos on just about any back of store walls at night. Also at the cutter canal you can find day gecos in the bushes along the canal. The are many exotics on the keys.

If you drive, on the way down you will see Iguanas. If it's nice and warm you will see quite a few. I was on marathon about 2 months ago and there were little 1.5 to 3 footers running around. But coming through Miami there are a lot on the side of the road hanging out eating grass.

If you ever get a chance to visit pigeon key...its a little 5-acre key that can only be accessed from the old 7 mile bridge...but there is places to stay on there, but i went on a fieldtrip, so how going about staying there im not too sure about...but anyways, to the herps...the first night i was there...i took a flashlight and checked out some of the trees...i ended up catching 7 corn snakes in about 15 minutes...some really cool interesting phases too...it was pretty cool...so im assuming some of the surrounding keys probably have some good corn snake populations...

i was down there just this spring, There are lots of Anoles and the Fence Lizards. I saw a neat gecko, but couldn't tell you what kind it was. The Iguanas are there, but since i didnt have a chance to try catching any ( and getting my butt kicked in the process) I cant say how hard or easy it is * i was told it was difficult, as they are FAST!* ^_^ Like said above Marathon seems to have a bunch of them...

I say, the most fun you will have there is going snorkeling! I spent nearly all of my time there in the water, and got to see some pretty cool stuff! The spiny lobsters hang out in little dens just out to where you cant touch the bottom, and lots of Little colorful fish out there too. * please please please be careful of what little coral is out there!!, the hurricanes ruined alot of stuff, so what little is there, needs to stay! :)*

You can find Conch - Live and just the Shells of those, I saw a Sea Urchin hanging out in the sand. I saw two sea turtles as well, and im HOPING i got pictures of them with the underwater cameras i bought.

Theres a ton more stuff i saw, but i suppose i should let you discover that on your own! the place is TEAMING with some of the coolest stuff ive ever seen!

My recommendations are:

Go to Blue Heaven for Brunch and Dinner!!!
For a neat beach, go to "The Bahia Honda" - this is where i saw the sea turtles * there were also screened off nests at the time there*
Check out a Place called Fogartys * at night, there is a Margarita shack next to this that is just so much fun, they have about a bazillion flavors too!, This is the part i actually want you to see*
Check out Sarabeths for Breakfast! Excellent food :)

Be sure to watch the sunset on the Pier too its all romanticy and such! heh!
The "Cat Man" is there with cats that do some pretty fun tricks, one of those cheesy sideshow things, but hey, it adds to the fun of the place!

MAKE SURE YOU GET CONCH FRITTERS!!!!! <3

and this post is a year old.... :ack2:

oh i forgot to mention...if you get a chance to do any kayaking around any mangrove flats or anything like that...there is some awesome mangrove salt marsh snakes...they are bright orange down there....really cool
