In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Good Choice?

Hey Everyone,

I went to a petstore yesterday and saw albino rosy boas for 250 dollars each. I was wondering If anyone had rosy boas and if they are good pets? Also is 250 dollars a good price for albino Rosy's? I think I would get mine from a breeder though. Any Info greatly appreciated. Thanks,

David

Rosy Boas are terrific!

But do buy directly from a breeder. I try to stay local too(to support the local guys & save on shipping).
There are several links on my website. www.rosyboas.to
Whitewater albino's should be ~$150ea
Limburg albino's should be ~$200ea
There are Arizona albino's that are a bit pricey at ~$500ea
There are also Borrego albino's, but since only 5 are known to exist, the chance of getting one at all & for under, say, $1000ea is low. They'll probably be more when they come out too. Possibly next year, but I hear the waitlist is long...

The first pic is a Limburg albino.(You can't see the red eyes very well is this pic)
The second is a Whitewater albino.(He doesn't really have red eyes, it's just the photo)

good looking critters john .

i love my rosys . i think they are great critters to keep . i just got into them a couple months ago and wish i had done so much sooner .

Very nice snakes. Not sure what kind they were at the pet store. I think they looked more like the 2nd one you posted. Ohh and do they get big? And what do you feed yours. Like could I just feed mice.

The Whitewater's are a 'normal' sized rosy. Probably averaging ~3ft.
The Limburgs are coastal rosies & as such should get really big. Perhaps pushing 4ft. My big female pictured on the top weighs ~700 grams & is over 3ft easy.
I feed ~50g rat weenlings to my big rosies & rat pups to my other adults. I thinks rats are a healthier choice overall than mice, but I do feed small mice & fuzzies to my juvi's & young.

Thanks for all the info. I have corn snakes right now and they are around 4 ft but I don't think they get as "fat" as Rosy's do. Are you a breeder that would sell them to me? I have to talk my mom into it first though. :( That might be hard. Maybe you can help? ;)

I do breed rosies.
I expect I'll have between 11 & 13 litters next fall. All different kinds.
All that I have available right now are ghost San felipes(@$300ea) and 1 Joshua Tree male @$75+shipping.
I should have Limburgs next year, but you can find both WW's & Limburgs right now on the Kingsnake.com classifieds section(http://market.kingsnake.com/index.php?cat=61). Some of the prices are better than others tho.
All my WW's next year will be het for snow & thus a little pricey for the beginner.
Let your Mom look at some Rosy sites with you and have her ask questions on this or the other rosy forums.
Good Luck!

Well my parents both said yes and I was very happy. Then I started to think, this is going to cost A LOT, well for a kid. I found 2 good deals, one for 185 with shipping and one for 177 with shipping. So lets say i took the 177 one, then i need stuff for it. This is where I need a little help. What do I need? I know I need a 10 gallon cage, but should I get a heat lamp, and a heat pad. For my corns I have both. Then I will get some kind of substrate probably what I have for my corns. Ill get a hide and water bowl. And Ill need some mice.

That adds up to about 250 dollars. Ya I'm not sure If I will get it or not. Any advice about what I need for it is appreciated.

Thanks
David

I keep my adult rosys in 15 gallon breeder style tanks, with a water bowl and hide. I use aspen shavings for bedding. For heat, I use cobra brand undertank heaters (so far I haven't had any problems with these overheating like the zoomed and some of the other brands do, but it's a good idea to have a good thermometer to monitor temperature with and if the heater gets the hot spot up towards 100 or higher, you'll want to hook it up to a rheostat to regulate the heat.
