In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

They think they should have total control of the internet and should be able to shut it down completely should they desire to.

add that to the article I read yesterday about Google using a kill switch on android phones to delete apps off your phone without your knowledge... and we are looking the gov and big companies trying to staunch the flow of information.

Ah man you edited the title! ;-p

Man I was staring at that pic for a good 2 minutes trying to figure out how it related and/or what it meant. I was looking at it from different angles and upside down looking for some secret meaning......

The original title was something like 'The gov't is going for the juggler' :)

Hmm, while reading the article, I got this image from the film "Blazing Saddles" where the new black sheriff was holding a gun to his own head threatening to shoot if everyone didn't back away......

So tell me, if a cyber attack is trying to shut down the internet infrastructure in this country, is the answer REALLY to do that job for them by shutting it DOWN ourselves as a "defensive" measure?

Heck, if the government wants to shut down internet access to all FEDERAL GOVERNMENT websites, by all means, have at it. Probably most people wouldn't even notice that they were gone.....

But leave the rest of the internet alone, please. If there is an attack from outside of the country, then neutralize the threat OUTSIDE of the country, instead of accomplishing their goal for them internally.

The answer is to make the internet resistant to shutdowns and other cyber attacks, not assist the attackers by emulating what they are trying to do.

Really, where do they find the people who come up with these kinds of ideas? :notallthe

But you know, their could be a more ulterior motive for the BS being published. Perhaps Washington, D.C. is scared silly that the anti government sentiment in the mideast will spread worldwide, even to the USA. So they want to take steps to shut down the conduit of information and coordination that could come from the internet. You just know they are itching for an excuse to lock down the internet to be under their complete control. I'm expecting some sort of permitting system to be implemented sooner or later. With such a system, a permit can be revoked or denied, thereby effectively putting everyone in the permit system under their control. Simply make the requirement for all ISPs and data centers and make them completely responsible for the content that goes through their servers. Make any content, both incoming and outgoing, that violates the big gray area of "national security" illegal and justification for pulling the permit and that would effectively do it.

With stiff fines and being put out of business because of "anti-government" talk going through their facilities, those businesses would be the ones doing the policing as well as taking most of the heat from irate customers.

Or as an alternative, some national "emergency" will take place and the government will merely nationalize the entire internet infrastructure. For the sake of "national security", of course.....

Don't we tend to villainize other countries that limit internet access and have control of all media outlets?

Something about them not allowing their citizens access to the 'truth', and instead spreading propeganda thru the government controlled media..... Guess it was just that they need some national security.

I guess you do have to wonder what sort of actions Obama would take and orders he would issue if he were in Muammar Gaddafi's shoes.....

I'm thinking he is setting plans in motion now to try to keep that from happening.

In a few years I see us no better than any dictator country. They are slowly but surely taking away our rights. It wont be long and we will have very few rights left and the guys that are in the mountians in their compounds will be the smartest amoung us.

The war has been going on for quite a long time. Just the players change all of the time. Virus programs, trojans, DDoS attacks and server hacks have been with us since almost the beginning of the internet.

If they actually DID cause cyber armageddon, all of their supporters would evaporate almost overnight, and likely try to hunt them down like dogs when they realize that THEIR computers got trashed as well. Their Facebook accounts were gone. Their game servers were no longer accessible. Their cell phones no longer worked. THEY were collateral damage. It's an incredibly dangerous game they are playing. For both sides.

I know about all the virus and trojans and they being here for a long time. The point I was trying to make is now we have a group INSIDE the US that has cracked into the security firm that is supposed to be securing the Gov't computers. If their computers aren't secure.. then the gov't will feel theirs aren't either.... so now goes the battle.

It's more ammo to get this bill passed and give the gov't the kill switch they want so they can shut down the internet to keep all their dirty little secrets'.... secret.

Yeah, looking at it from that angle, it certainly wouldn't be the first time that the government manufactured a crisis just to make some legislation they want passed to seem reasonable in comparison.

Kind of makes you wonder if the government squeezing ever harder to try to remain in control will trigger exactly what it is they are trying to prevent....

Im sure it will happen. Once folks starting to connect all the loose dots to see the big picture. Take the Republican politicians in New Hampshire (I think thats where the other story I just posted was at) trying to make it harder for college age adults to vote because they normally vote for liberal or democrat.

Just connect the dots
