    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi my female is getting pretty big (from eggs) and will probly lay any day now. she hasnt ate anything since she shed about 5 days ago. I have not noticed her drinking water, but I really havent been checking for that. Her tail is getting a little smaller, its still fat but just getting a little smaller. Is it normal for girls to stop eating when it comes close to droping some eggs? I have a nest box with moist coconut fiber. thanks for any help or advice.

Yes, it's normal for them to slow down eating or stop eating all together right before they lay eggs. Just wait until after she lays the eggs, then she'll be eating like a pig.

Robert is right, I have a female on her 5th clutch and she always stops eating for at least a day, sometimes 2, but as soon as she lays the eggs she is on the hunt for food again. I have other females that only slow down eating less but I do haev one that completely stops eating and its completely normal.

Her tail will most likely plump right back up after she lays and eats like a pig again.

That may be the case. It seems to me that some of my new females who breed for the first time are a little slower than the ole girls.

she still hasent ate or laid the eggs, Im going to put a second laying box in her cage with vermiculite, the other has coconut fiber.

should I try hand feeding her? or would it stress her out t much?

I am not sure trying to hand feed her will do anything except add on a little stress. As far as not eating this is why you conditioned her with enough fat reserves. The egg laying aspect of things takes alot of energy etc... Make sure if you are continuing to try and feed her you don't allow crickets to stay in the cage with her overnight. They can add to her stress. I would recommend making the situation as stress free as possible. I would make sure she has a moist hide box perhaps peat moss or vermiculite. The amazing thing about these animals is they usually know what they need and when they need it. Good Luck.

All of my geckos stop eating before laying, It's normal and then the eat tons of food once they lay. If I'm not sure which girl in my group laid a clutch of eggs I usually look to see who comes running for food once I open the cage. The difference in appetite is that noticable, you'll see. :eatpointe
