• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Guyana Not eating

I have a 2008 Guyana in a Neo 4x2.5 cage with good heating source. She has Natural light with plenty of water. Rodent source is good and reliable FT at 82deg when fed. She has zero consistency when eating. She has eaten meals in 4 months.

I tried a good hand full of techniques and trying not to end up with live feed!

I was afraid of the rodent turning spoil. There is a threshold from 88-95, takes for ever to reach that tempt. They are thawed natural, maybe a different defrost method.
 
I defrost the feeders in the refrigerator until they are thawed and then warm them up in hot water (about 105*F) until heated through. It works for everything from mouse pinkies to 3# rabbits - though the rabbits take a lot longer.

I pull them all out and lay them in a tote on top of the freezer and use the heat produced by the freezer it self to thaw out with the hot water.

Im convinced its not my defrost technique let alone my food source. My concern is- new boa that use to eat every week with prior owner of 8 years. Now four months (in) later in my possession- she is yet to be/feel acclimated (i think). Quarantine, brand "new" cage and no health issue's but, zero consistency in feed.

She show interest when dangle the rodent in/on her face but, turns away. Anyway- 5meals in 4 months is a piss poor average = ) I will continue to work with her! I broken a few snakes habits and such with live feed and slowly worked them back to FT. However, how long does it take for a true locality boa to acclimate!! I have named her pre-Madonna...

I don't have this particular species, but 5 meals in 4 months does not seem too bad to me for an adult boa. She's not actively growing so doesn't need as much food as a young snake. Many large boas only feed once a month.
