• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....
oh sweet! If i can provide proof that he stole money from me would it be possible to get his personal information?
Post it. There are users here who are excellent at tracking down people, especially if those people are scammers.

i'm working with another company right now to see what they can release. He sold me a game account on a site called playerauctions.com then stole the account back and cash from me. I tracked him back to hear based on his email.

Please give us all the information that you have. That way we can warn each other and make it harder for him to steal from us too. And we will of course help you in any way.

after getting in contract with Ryan he said he gave his brother the wrong information which led to him recovering the account. Ryan returned all of the stolen goods and apologized.

As someone who trades alt coins/currencies i have a burning hate for any type of scammer. I was going to construct a case and present all my evidence to everyone in his life if my assets were not returned. (didn't tell him that) Is that a little too harsh?

not too harsh at all in my opinion. I am not going to defend this I royally screwed up I should have made sure it was the correct account and I didn't and it could have financially messed tom over. I am just glad it got resolved quickly. Sorry again Tom.

It would only have been too harsh if you jumped the gun and didn't give him time to respond before roasting him in front of the entire world. IMO, the BOI should work like this:
Step 1, make sure the person actually stole from you, and didn't just screw up royally.
Step 2, gather as much evidence as humanly possible.
Step 3, calmly show everyone who could possibly care all of your evidence.

And this is the difference between a mistake and a real scammer. A real scammer would never make it right and publicly apologize. Honest mistakes can happen and I think we all understand that. Ryan, good on you for being decent and fixing it. Glad it worked out for you guys!

In terms of your question, Tom, about going after a scammer - no that's not too harsh if it's really a scammer IMHO. A person who preys on others and steals money/animals/people's faith in humanity pretty much deserves getting paid back in kind. We've had plenty of real scammers around the herp world; I don't think anyone would shed a tear if they had some IRL consequences.
