Did anyone from the board go to the Hamburg show today? I was there looking around mainly for supplies.

Yes I was vending there. We did ok. A ton of shoppers but frozen feeders were a late seller for us. Did ok but not great.

Which table were you guys?

Also, was it just me or did it seem like there was a metric :censored:ton of people there? I could barely move through the aisles!

Good day at Hamburg.....Lots of people and sales were great. It was a little crazy how you couldnt move through the aisles at some points....and they ran out of cheeseburgers at the food stand!

I was right across from dales bearded dragons. Klines feeders is the business name. We carry ft rodents. Plus balls, corns, boas, and had black throats and beardeds

It was a busy show, it was so much easier to pre-order my supplies from dales then to shop around. I got what i went for. two leo's two crested's and a pacman

I was at the show as well. One of the most packed Hamburg shows I've been to. I'm not sure if I will be going back. It seems every couple of shows it gets worse and worse. I went with the intent of getting supplies and feeders. I was so fed up when I was stuck in the middle of an aisle for 5 minutes because no one could move.

Hamburg is nasty. I stopped going to that show ages ago. Their are plenty of nice, clean shows to attend in the area and their is no need to continue going to that dirty fire trap. I've read several complaints on Facebook about it...but the same complaints have been said before everywhere...Stop complaining and stop going!

Last time I checked, a forum is a place to voice opinions and everyone is voicing theirs about the show. There's nothing wrong with that. Maybe it was some people's first times and didn't know better and maybe for others (in my case) I heard it wasn't as bad since the show split between Reading and Hamburg and I also had a friend who came to PA to review the show and needed us to show him around. I think people should voice what they experienced at the show so other's who were thinking of attending the next one can choose more wisely.

Yes, you are correct. That is me voicing mine. My statement "stop going and stop complaining" wasn't directed at you personally (note I didn't quote you). It was directed to the people that go, complain, then go again and complain some more!

This month their are four shows in PA -> Pittsburgh Reptile Expo on the 13th, Reading Pet Expo the 18th-20th (30 tables of select reptile vendors will be attending), Steel City Reptile Expo on the 19th and the ECRSE on the 26th.

It was my first show, I wont be going back there unless the rest suck. I plan on going to an Oakes show, hopefully I am not let down. I also decided to pick some vendors to buy from ahead of time so that saved me frustration.

4 shows if you count the Pittsburgh Reptile expo on the 13th as well.

I wasn't under the impression your post was directed at me but at anyone who posted their opinion about the show in which case I felt that the statement "stop going and stop complaining" was uncalled for. If that was not your intentions then my apologies for the misunderstanding. Trying to "hear" a person through written word can be difficult.

Thanks! That one wasn't listed on Kingsnake (or I missed it). I'm too far south to attend that particular show so often I forget about it. :D

I agree. That's why I wasn't offended. ;)

Couldn't agree more! We have attended the show at least 4 times and we're vendors twice, we will never vend or attend again, it's bad when you go there and can't see a table because you're being herded like sheep through the place, it's even worse to vend and have to climb under a table to get in and out and be on top of those around you. Sure the crowd is great for a vendor because you have more chances to sell but I personally find it more difficult to talk to people and interact when there's that many people around. Just my personal feelings on the show, it's a very well established show so I'm sure it'll be around a long time, but I'm really hoping other shows pick up because they have great potential to be amazing shows.

Actually 5, Reading (different promoter) on the 26th http://www.eastcoastreptilesuperexpos.com/

I rarely attend Hamburg anymore because it is just too crowded...nothing like going to a show, AS A VENDOR, and not being able to park. I haven't gone to any of the new shows because they are just that much further away (and not worth me taking 2 nights off from work to do show.

Oh yeah the parking is horrible!! and to load and unload your animals on bumpy rocky dirt is less than fun, not to mention vomit rate of the animal after a trip like that... not so good. Being from NY you should try to make the Hudson Valley show in Poughkeepsie NY (http://www.herpnerds.com/), it's a brand new show but it'll be a lot closer to you then a PA show.

Hamburg is just Hamburg. Its not gonna change. People are gonna continue to vend and attend, and also continue to complain. Same ole, Same ole. To quote Ron White "you cant fix stupid".

I thought maybe the newer venues of Reading would bring some light to those who both vend and attend Hamburg, but apparently not. As once said, you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink.

I have talked to vendors at both venues and it seems that although Hamburg generates a larger crowd, the vendors I talked to said they do equally as well at reading based on the numbers they bring thru the door.

Common Sense speaking here, Hamburg is just a building as is Reading. I know I sure dont go to a show to see the building, I go for the vendors. The vendors havent figured that out yet. If they would all go 30 minutes down the road to a better venue, the buyers will follow. AND in theory sales should grow, with all the people who dont attend Hamburg that do attend Reading.

Anyone that has done both shows, has to admit that atleast 75% of the patrons that attend Reading are faces that you dont see at Hamburg.

Once again. Common Sense speaking

I attended hamburg once and doubt I will go back. To be packed in there like a can of sardines, when some don't shower and drive 7 hrs one way, just not my idea of a good time. I will be attending the Reading show in the upcoming months. From what I hear, that is the better show in PA currently.

The last time I attended the Reading show (early fall sometime) it was really small. I hope that it gets better because it is MUCH closer to me.
