    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Can you handle the Leopard Geckos? I know you are not suppose to handle them a lot but we bought a Golden and were told we can hold him, well he is flighty. I was thinking about selling him and getting a Gecko that we can atleast hold while we clean his tank.
THanks

I've always heard you shouldn't handle the Goldens at all except for cage maintenance and other necessities.

It's important to remember that all reptiles prefer not to be over handled, but with that in mind leos and cresteds are probably two of the best species for occasional short periods of handling. Both are pretty slow moving and relatively calm once they reach adulthood.

I have 2 female leos that BEG to be held. Don't know why. Neither one came from a home where they were handled at all. One of those 2 will leap into my hand as I feed or clean. She really loves to be stroked too and will walk under my hand ,pressing her back against me.Kind of like a cat will do.
1 female and 1 male don't mind being held but would be just as happy if I didn't bother with it all.

If you want something that does not mind handling at all get an African Fat Tail Gecko. They are very docile.

I start handling my geckos (beides picking them up for cleaning) once they reach about 1 month old, give or take a few days. They start off a little jumpy, but quickly tame down.

My Chinacat loves to be held. When it comes time for cleaning, I have to take her out and hold her, otherwise she'll keep trying to climb onto my hand keeping me from getting anything done. I have problems getting her off my hand and back into her enclosure when the cleaning is done. :)

A few of mine really like being held. Every once in a while I take them outside for a little fresh air and they just sit on my shoulder.

I have one that really loves to be handled....but the agian he was spoiled from the day he hatched. When I clean his tank he sits on my shoulder and watches....gotta make sure I do it right ya know...LOL

I have a few that absolutely loved to be handled. My male in particular loves crawling around, maybe its the giant in him LOL, big softies you know...
Then i have some that don't mind being handled and a one that Hated to be handled but is now warming up to me.

I handle all of my leos and most daily, I have some that will run over to climb on my hand to be held and a very few that don't like it much but tolerate me
