    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

It's pretty difficult to read the Declaration of Independence without thinking that there are a lot of similarities with the situation today that our own government is inflicting upon us.

Is there really any functional difference between a single person acting as a king over it's servants, answerable to and constrained by no one, or the entire legislative body acting in like fashion?
 
The situation today has been going on for at least last 12 years unfortunately. We elect a Democrat then Republicans spend 4 to 8 years stalling stuff. We elect a Republican then Democrats spend 4 to 8 years stalling. If we elect an Independent then both R & D will band together finally but not that would do us any good. I have no faith in any of them.

Actually, I think that if a true independent was voted into the office of POS, then BOTH the republicans and democrats would fight them tooth and nail.

The likely salvation of this country would have to be the complete elimination of the party system as well as the system of political contributions that virtually guarantees corruption. There is far too much conflict of interest in the entire political process where money is the loudest voice talking, with "we" the people continually getting the short end of the stick in the voting process.

Our "representatives" are not our representatives at all. They are simply looking out for number 1, trying to pad their own pockets using the power they wield in office with their votes on bills.

That's it in a nutshell Rich. These people in either party are more than willing to wipe out the common persons life savings, lifestyle and peace of mind for some coin from special interest groups.
