    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Inquiry Has anybody had any experience buying from Contemporary485?

I'm also currently trying to deal with them.
I paid for animals and they were supposed to be shipped on Wednesday evening.
They had a family issue come up that night and weren't able to ship.
They've responded a couple of times since then but nowhere near the amount they did when they were trying to sell me these animals and many more. Kept on trying to get me to buy all these others that i wasn't interested in one being the psychedelic rock geckos.
Something seems fishy. I don't like coincidences.

Ben,
This is likened to, "Birds Of A Feather" in this case the birds I'm speaking of, is frogman & schaumda, friends of the those you're dealing with.

It's my opinion, be extremely careful, & cautious when dealing with contemporary485.

Best of Luck to you, with this deal!

Ben, I hope you get your animals. Please update if you do.

However, the messages they sent kind of creep me out. Stuff like this quote would make me stay away:

Ill wait for a collector who wants what he/she wants and price/cost is of no concern to get it.

We gave you a stellar deal. Amazing. You should've jumped on that like white on rice love.

We quoted you at superb pricing and i am sort of troubled anytime an individual comes to us for anything and we can not meet a customers specific desires or requests. We are the least cheap people you'll probably ever meet.

In an effort to give you the stage, I am all ears. Remember it is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease after all.

Our aim is never "a sale", those are regular occurrences regardless. Our inventory is molten fire ... Hotness, sells itself.

Our aim here is more refined in that when someone comes to us with a request, that we do everything within our abilities and also within reason, to ensure that that customer, you in this case, leaves us glad they stopped by, and certainly not empty handed if they came with specific request.

The other thing to understand too is that we are done giving sales. We hooked everybody up for weeks straight, 8 psycho pairs radically reduced. Everyone one got extremely unnecessarily reduced pricing on any and everything we sold. Whoever didn't purchase these last 2 weeks either royally goofed, or perhaps money was just tight and off a few bucs.

Point is we hooked it up so lovely with so much love here on fauna these past 30 days. We blessed that gecko classifieds section and every customer with so much class and style and unnecessary discounts they should make Brian and I a plaque.

The unwarranted and hyperbolic egotistical display is extremely off-putting to me. Same for stuff like "love" and "toddy" in terms of levels of professionalism. Also, the zealous attempt to drive sales home hard right out of the gate defies the claim that things are selling themselves here. If something sells itself, there is no need for the application of large discounts except perhaps for a large combined order. There would also be zero need to be be pushy since there would be a line of customers waiting for that which is in an extreme state of heightened demand. Just how I see it.

Ben,
Any updates on your order?

Any correspondence from them what so ever?

This is looking, and sounding, extremely familiar.:yesnod:

Again, hope this works out for you!

GOOD LUCK!

Dont Trust

I have been doing business with them since they put out that ad on Black Friday, I have not received any animals, with many excuses and problems that occurred while getting the animals and for about 2 weeks their phone has been off and I have gotten no reply from any of my email messages. I have just filed a complaint against their paypal account as I have yet to receive any animals, or even a response back from them. Also their paypal account is under a different name - Virginia Cabral.

I did receive the animals I bought from them. Quite a while back. They also included a free baby strophurus wellingtonae.
I had a lot of correspondence back and forth with them and threatened to just have a refund, but would rather have the animals.
They did send though. I'll see if I can dig up some correspondence.

Well Let me know what you can find out, they seem like nice people and I wouldn't want to bash anybody if they are telling the truth, however, I made payments back on November 28, 2015 and have not received any animals, and their phone has been off for around 2 weeks now, and I have sent several emails with no reply. And I spent a lot of money on them. So seeing this thread has me a little ticked off.

thanks,
Dan

My apologies

Ok well I must apologize about my previous thread, this thread got me a little angry at first as I am doing business with Brian which caused me to act first instead of finding out the truth, Brian has contacted me and had a bit of a rough patch these couple weeks, however, as far as anybody else's issues from what I understand Brian has gone out of his way on several occasions, actually giving away free animals worth thousands to make up for any mistake. So as far as I can tell Brian and Kerry are in my good book.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is put off by the way they word things. Even if they were giving a killer deal I think I'd steer clear, but it doesn't even sound like they're doing that. As soon as I got a message like that I would look elsewhere.

Dan,
Nice people DON'T do this to others.....

If it walks like a scammer, and sounds like a scammer, it's a scammer.

Call your Local Police Department, and ask to speak to a Detective from the Computer Crime Division in your area, and do the same in their area. It won't cost you anything, but a phone call, and possibly a meeting.

Again, Nice people DON'T do this to others.

Best of Luck to you!
