In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

has anyone else has problems with CMKX80KID?

I am not terribly familiar with how to post on this site. I am attempting to find out if anyone knows how I can resolve and issue with a guy named Cody. His screen name is cmkx80kid.

He sells American Alligators. He actually contacted me via aol and convinced me to send him a money order. He said that he had three larger sized American Alligators and that if I would send him money via paypal he would ship one to me overnight.

Three days later I found out from him that he did not overnight it. he packaged the poor thing in a thin box that had once been a Reebok box. It was not even the reinforced normal thickness of shoe boxes. When the USPS arrived the box was completely smashed. I opened it and of course it was dead. It was approximately 6" long and he had simply wrapped newspaper around it. He used clear tape and threw dropped it off to be mailed.

I am afraid I have little recourse. I contacted him immediately and he said he would sell me another one at his cost of $85. (I had sent him $120 the first time). He then ignored my questions as to why he sent it in such a manner. He ships out of Indianapolis. He refused to refund my money. I am more concerned that he will continue to ship without regard to the health of the reptiles.

I live in California- I know shipping them out here is not allowed so can't do anything. Please know, however, that he is a dishonest, cruel person that shouldn't be dealing with live animals. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE! I asked him to credit my paypal and he refused.

You may need to provide more information. Where did you send the MO? What is his last name? I am assuming the username you posted is his AOL screen name because it does not appear that a member here is registered under that username. I would also suggest registering your own username here on fauna. If you are Richard, who is Mathew?

Your first problem is, he is a underage kid. Legally, I don't think you can sue him or take other legal action. He's been to my house once or twice. I do not have any dealings with him. We'll keep it at that.
Second, you can purchase american alligators from most dealers for $25 to $35 each as hatchlings.
But I guess you figured out they would not ship to you in California, since they know it would be illegal to do so.
I hate to say this, but looks like you need to take this one on the chin.
If the local authroites find out you had an american alligator shipped to you, ......
I can't speak for California fish and wildlife, but I know for a fact Indiana fish and wildlife keeps taps on all these sites that deal with herps, just looking for law breakers.

I don't think I would have even brought this to the BOI. You look just as bad as he does. For one it's illegal in California to keep them, so you are guilty yourself. it is people like you guys that make us good guys look bad.
We don't need anymore publicity in this hobby.

I can almost guarantee CA fish and wildlife monitors these forums. I am sure you will be added to a watch list. I hope you don't have anything else you are not supposed to

I think we also should be concerned that the boy is sending out live reptiles with such substandard shipping. What if they get loose? Do we want to lose the ability to ship any reptile because people ship "dangerous" species improperly? I know a 6 inch gator isn't REALLY dangerous, but they can bite some, and even the TINIEST scratches will be publicly shown.
The OP shouldn't be trying to buy illegil reptiles. That causes problems for all of us.
The Seller shouldn't be shipping in such a horrifieing manner. That also can cause issues for all of us AND is cruel in the extreme to the reptile!
Pictures of the box/more details/etc really needs to be seen here.

I bought a pair of Hog Island boas from him a few years ago. he shipped them to me in a nice insulated box and they were packed very well. Sorry you did not have a good dealing with him.
