    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Has anyone ever actually used a chicken-egg incubator?

I've read posts on other forums about people using them for other reptile species even other pythons, but I am wondering if anyone here has actually used one for BPs and what your thoughts are on the accuracy of heating/humidity. I will be able to borrow one of these (See URL) from a friend who raises chickens this winter to try out if it seems worth it. Of course I would use my own therm/hygrometers and monitor it for at least a few days before trying it with eggs. I like it as an idea for a substrate-less method since you can put water in the bottom of it to keep it humid. I just don't know if it's possible to keep it humid enough for BP eggs. :shrug01:

I could also probably borrow the forced-air one, but I've heard people complain that those dry out BP eggs. Again, any input?

I have read another thread in this forum where this question was asked, but no one who answered has actually used one themselves. I'm looking to hear first hand experience from people with these to see if I want to test one out next season.
 
I think they're crap, personally...
I used mine for one clutch (I think I pulled the eggs, and put them in something else; but I'm not certain - it was 10 yrs ago); after which it took up space on a shelf for 5 yrs before I gave it away.
Some people use them, and have good luck with them, though.

Mine was a slightly different model, as can be expected after this much time; and what stands out to me about the one you linked is that the overall height is only 8 inches. Without looking at it in person, I am inclined to think that the heating element would be too close to the eggs for my taste...and that's before the What If portion of my brain starts envisioning the most anticipated babies of the clutch(es) using it as a jungle gym and getting burns.
 
I did just look up the Hovabator's dimensions: 18"X18"X7.5". Hmmmm. Probably still just build one out of a small cooler.
