    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i have a ball python i got him a month and 5 days ago he is 23" long and if my first snake, and he still hasn't eaten yet. has been loseing quit a bit of weight. what can i do to get him to eat he seems to have no intrest in eating. i have been trying medium sized frozen mice. will it help if i get live?
 
im not experienced with balls but a month isn't that long to go without food have you tried a smaller size mouse?if he is losing alot of weight then i would say yes try the live you need to get him to eat ,but maybe try p/k first and go from there or maybe knck the hell out of them good either way if you go live you have to watch it ,wish i could help more maybe someone that knows balls more can help ,good luck
 
Do you know what he was eating before you got him? Are you certain his enclosure is set up properly (proper temps, humidity, hides, etc)? Have you been handling him a lot? Is he CB?

A lot of variables come in to play, especially with Ball Pythons, it seems. It's pretty tough to come up with any solid answers without knowing all of the information. Give us some more info, and it will be a lot easier to help. :)
 
okay so I had bought a ball python and he would not eat for 2 months! I tried all size of frozen, then I tried the size he typically should be eating live, and he ate it right away. I highly reccomened feeding him live. A lot of people do disagree with this. However it's totally safe up to adult mice. Once they get too big for those, be sure not to feed them live rats. Bad idea! They are mean and can cause serious damage to your Ball Python. And just so you know I am expeirenced with all types of reptiles, so you don't think I am feeding you bull. Hope all works out!
 
I have 10 snakes (9 ball pythons) and feed all of them live rats. Never had a problem. I know many breeders with collections numbering in the hundreds that feed live to every one of their snakes on a weekly basis without a single incident. The key is to stand by and never leave a live rodent in with a snake for longer than a few minutes. The horror stories you hear about live feedings are because rats were left in with the snake for long periods of time...as in hours, overnight, or even a week.

Try offering a live mouse, they are pretty hard to resist. Also make sure you have plenty of hides and that temps/humidity are correct. Stop all handling until your little guy begins eating regularly again. Good luck!
