In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I know this doesn't belong in this forum, but I wanted to show all you guys this. I found this little cat gecko hatchling this morning after 5 months of incubating. The clutchmate should be hatching out soon. I also have 2 other eggs that were laid in January and 2 gravid females. The hatchlings almost look like a salamanders, lol.

awesome!

they are definately awesome geckos, i really like the look of "red phase" babies when they hatch
careful of temperature spikes, they are quite sensitive to drastic changes in heat when younger. congrats again!

Congrats Robert! That’s an amazing accomplishment. Good luck and keep them coming…

have you been captive breeding cat geckos? or are the imported females gravid? very nice, about how big is that hatchy?

Thanks everybody. I'll post another picture when it sheds.

The females are imported, but they became gravid since they were imported and one while in my possession. The hatchling is a little bit bigger than a fat tailed gecko hatchling.

Congrats Rob, see I told you to be patient :)

That is a healthy looking little cat geckos! Nice!

Excellent Work!

These cat geckos are(were) presumed at one time to be impossible to keep and breed. Could you please post an essay here on how you kept, bred, and hatched them? :eatpointe

Housing
I keep the cat geckos in pairs in 10 gallon aquariums. As a substrate, I use cocoa bedding. I keep a couple vines and branches for them to climb on and a pothos plant. I have a fogger in each enclosure set to go off a few times a day to keep the humidity up. I also spray the enclosures every night. There's two dark hides in each enclosure, one near the fogger and one near the opposite end of the cage. They stay in these hides about 15+ hours a day. I keep them at room temperature 68 - 74 degrees. There's a flourescent hood on the enclsures that are on from 9 am - 9 pm.

Feeding
I've noticed that these geckos seem to have very slow metabolisms, much slower than any other lizard I've ever kept, so they really dont eat that much or that often.I feed them crickets dusted in calcium & minerals and also discoid roach nymphs. As I said, they spend most of the time sleeping in their hides and they're very secretive, so I've actually only seen them eat a few times.

Breeding
I've never actually seen them breed. I've been told that it takes about 45 days between breeding and for the first clutch of eggs to be laid.

Eggs
I keep the eggs at room temperature in a deli cup filled with cocoa bedding. They start out a little bit smaller than a dime, but double in size. The eggs are like leopard gecko eggs in that the will hatch sooner if kept at a higher temperature, around 72 - 78 degrees, and take longer if at a lower temperature, 68 - 72 degrees. I'm not sure yet if temperature determines sex, I'll have to hatch out some more to find out.

Hatchlings
The hatchlings are a little bit bigger than a fat tail gecko hatchling, but more slender. I'm currently keeping my first hatchling in a sterilite container. The substrate is a paper towel and there is a wet hide inside. I also spray the entire container every once in a while to keep the humidity up.

I probably left out some stuff, let me know if there's anything else you want to know.

Thanks Kelli!

I'm not so sure if it's that healthy though. It's front right leg and foot doesn't appear to be "working" properly. It might be better after it sheds though.

I woke up this morning and found two more eggs from my other female, so I've got 5 eggs now :D

Those little guys are awesome... excellent job. I've got my fingers crossed for you, hopefully all turns out well with the hatchling.

I've always had a thing for Cat geckos.

Great

Good job! Man I have always liked those little guys. Great to see your having success with them. Pat yourself on the back for me! VERY COOL!

Awsome little guy!

I had a leo hatch out last year with a kind of twisted foot. After a few weeks, it straightened out and it now looks perfectly normal.

Good luck,
Alice
