    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok so with my school in order to graduate i have to intern somewhere which is proving to be quite the challenge. Ok so this is how the internship works i work for you for free for 20 hours a month and i take pictures and learn how to work for a employer i curently am 17 years old and am completly insured thru my school and i can provide proper documents from the school. I im located in temecula california so i would like the internship to be at least with in a hour of there. Please contact me at 951-514-5210
 
Hospitals and schools often need volunteers. That may not be your internships of choice, but at least you will graduate.
 
Check with your city park divisions. Cities are always looking for volunteers to clean up the parks. Or check with the local animal shelters. Sometimes they need volunteers there.
 
If you're willing to make the drive (I know it's a long one) you could 'volunteer' at Pet Kingdom here in San Diego, for about 5 hours per week, one day a week. At 16 or older, you can intern, but at 18 you can be paid for your work. I was considering it, but I kinda like to be paid for my work if it's at a shop and Aquatic Warehouse already offered a part-time job, I just don't feel like driving in I15 rush hour traffic 3 times a week
 
Ya that is a long drive but thank you. I have a email into a reptile rescue waiting for a reply also i might check lllreptile and see. I have a ton of options now i didnt even know of before.
 
You could also ask a show vendor, if that's acceptable with your program, you'll get a good 24 work hours into setup and booth tending in one weekend (Next week is the Reptile Expo in Anaheim)

Maybe you could ask Bob from Sandfire for a short internship, I know he has one intern already and you can really see his age getting to him, kinda sad to watch, he could really use some physical help
 
I have two emails that i sent to Bob but he hasnt gotten back to me, every time i call it goes to voice mail i think its a land line. Interning with him would be really cool and he lives 30 min from me.
 
This is such a bizarre request. I'm a professor of wildlife ecology and management, do you not have advisors and/or professors who could tell you where to find internship opportunities rather than searching on a random website that may or may not actually have anything to do with your chosen field? Internships are not supposed to be just a fun job, they're supposed to be resume building, generating skills relevant to your field, and networking opportunities. A proper internship has the potential to land you a job following school, or at the very least give you experience that will set you above other graduates in your program.

What is your field? Have you actually searched online for relevant internships? Why are you limited to just an hour from your school when many internship opportunities across the country provide free or low cost housing? Have you done any research other than this random post?

This whole thread is rather puzzling to me.
 
He's still in highschool and the one best internship opportunity for his interests didn't accept him, some places locally won't hire interns under 18, either

Pretty much whats happening. I am curently interning with my family its what my sisters did and i just wanted to do somthing a little different but it didnt work out.

I posted here in hopes of getting to intern with a reptile breeder but that didnt work out, i originally tryed to get into the zoo intern quest at the san diego zoo but was not accepted do to a number of things. My parents do not like the idea of sending me away to intern as i am still a minor till next month. My educational facilitator gave me a site to look at but it wasnt for interns it was just about what interns do and are not supposed to do. I am doing very well working with my dad for now, its only a 8 week class and im installing security and fire alarms and learning how to program them so that one day i can take over the compony when he retires. It is a random post becuase no one at my school would help me find a internship and was desperately looking as i want to graduate this semester, luckily i was able to work for my parents. Hope this clears stuff up

There's nothing wrong with that. If you want to combine that with your love of reptiles in the future, you can look into if there are any tweaks to the system to make it more appropriate for people who keep and breed reptiles. I've heard of several thefts and fires in just the last year from private breeders.
 
Innoway I already have my dad installed two fire alarms in my room just in case one went out. We also had a idea for putting a camera in my incubator to monitor the eggs
 
What about an equine rescue & sanctuary? There's a bunch near Temecula.

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. I was just really confused because internships at the college level are rather formal affairs, and I was dismayed you weren't getting more assistance. Being a minor does make things tricky.

If you'd like to work more with wildlife, I would contact the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Carlsbad. I'm still not exactly sure what your career goals are, but the USFWS has a Pathways program that you could get involved in once you get into college. Starting as a volunteer or intern is a great step in the door for a good future job.

You're in a really neat area as far as wildlife jobs go. Lots of wildlife research is conducted all along your coast, especially at Catalina Island and Del Sur Coast up by Monterey. I would definitely give the Monterey Bay Aquarium a call and see what volunteer opportunities they may have in your area (you may be surprised). Same with the USFWS. Sometimes they have projects going on nearby even if their offices are far away.
