Hawaii volcano

That is some scary stuff.
I mean what are you going to do.
Aside from the fire, property damage and the ability to get to or leave your house couldn’t that emit poison gas?
Just the thought of toxic vapor scares the you know what out of me.

Yeah, some nasty stuff gets airborne in a volcanic eruption. It's not only ash that is a problem. I was reading where the lava running into the ocean can be pretty nasty. Not only hydrochloric acid being formed but there can be tiny particles of volcanic glass suspended in the steam being produced. Not really something you want to be breathing.

Small wonder that tourism to Hawaii has dropped like a rock lately.

I'll take tropical storms and hurricanes any day. At least you can clean up and rebuild afterwards. If you have 100 ft. of hardened lava and/or ash over top of your burned out house and property, not much you can do about that afterwards.

So pick your paradise carefully, I guess.

Yes paradise does have a cost🙄.
We I’voe in one of the best suburbs of San Francisco.
Prices are about as high as it gets.
We live on a major fault line.
About 2 weeks ago we had 80 earth quakes in one week and another one-just yesterday.
Little ones relieve the pressure so the big ones aren’t so bad, but earth just suck.

Man, this is really something. Difficult to think of molten rock flowing more like a tide coming in than a freight train. It just seems to unstoppable.

I read that another volcano erupted in Guatemala and was very fast moving with pyroclastic flows that caused a number of deaths, unlike this Hawaiian volcano which people can just walk out of the way of the lava path.
