    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i need some w/ heat control options...I currently have a corn in a 10 gallon tank..bp in a 40 gallon tank..I keep both hot side temps around 85 using a uth, ( bp wont use hot side if its 90)..im controling the uth w/ Repti-therm and thermostat an esu reptile digital probe thermomitor for each tank...I am getting a Hog Island Boa soon..ques?...

i want to get a better thermostat b/c i dont feel this one is accurate..if i go w/ a Helix or Ranco.,.or other big names..etc..I have to get for each tank??

is there any i can run them all on one??..there all over 100$ and thats alot of dough..

any less expensive options?

Yes...

You can get a Ranco or Johnson Controls model with the 6 outlet power strip attached for under $100 (among others, Matt Greybeal sells them....MG Reptiles). Both models can handle up to 1500 watts of power. So, as long as all of your UTHs don't total up to over 1500 watts, you can plug them into the power strip and have them all running at the same temp setting.

Also, Spyder Robotics sells the Herpstat I thermostat that can handle up to 500 watts, has an outlet end that can take 3 plugs, and is proportional (the Ranco and Johnson Controls are non-proportional). It sells for about $109.

First make sure you have an accurate thermometer, an IR thermometer would be best, that way you can be sure of your temps on the cage floor and all around, hot side, cold side, etc. The thermostats you mentioned should control the heat just fine unless the on/off heat differential is too great or they are failing in some manner.

I'm no expert but, I personally wouldn't control a corn's, BP's and boa's cage with the same controller they have different requirements. I'm guessing you can get by with 85 for the hot spot for the BP but it would be a lot nicer if you raised it 5 to 7 degrees.

What I would do if I wanted to use only one thermostat for this situation; I would purchase a Herpstat II (ca. $219) and use one output for the corn snake and the other output for the BP and Boa. You can keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool.
 
thanx..i had the BP at 92 and he never went to that side..it was suggested that BPs dont need that high of a temp and actually feed better w/ the temp lower..im sure this doesnt apply to all BPs, but they each have a prefrence..mine like it lower..now he stays on the warm side most of the time..
 
I don't see my older BP's on the hot side all that often but at times when I do take their temps every once in a while I do catch one at 87F. They mostly run around 84F to 85F, I'm guessing they move to the hot spot right after they eat.

You have to go with what you think is right if your BP is eating, shedding OK and not getting RI's then it's ok. I'm not a Boa person so I can only go with what's listed in care sheets on that one.
 
To get consistent results when controlling multiple enclosures with a single thermostat, you should be running similar setups - same enclosure size, same type and size heating equipment. Keep in mind that the thermostat will be functioning off the information from one probe, and will not control each cage individually. You can compensate for some variances in requirements with adjustments to setup, but it works best if the temperature requirements of the various animals match up, too
