    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have some heat tape and an electrical cord but I need to know what type of connector to use to connect the heat tape to the electrical cord? The heat tape I am using came already hooked up. Any suggestions? :shrug01:

If it is Flexwatt, you can get the conectors from Reptile Basics or the Bean Farm etc. Or you can solder and elec. tape . Other heat tape I am not certain.

Not sure what you're saying here, Angela. "Hooked up" usually means the electrical cord is already attached to the tape.

If it is not, you can buy connectors from the places Casey suggested. If you're doing it yourself, make sure you follow the instructions to the letter, for safety reasons.

Most of my flexwatt was already was connected when I bought it. However I cut some off of one of my rolls (it was 4ft long and I only needed 2ft) so that left me with 2 ft of flexwatt and I have found a use for it on a different shelf for a cage. I have the flexwatt. I have an extra extention cord what I am missing is the connectors to hook the cord to the flexwatt . I looked at a few places but for just the connectors they want almost $8 for SHIPPING on a $3 item :(.

I think I got it. The heat tape you are already using came hooked up, but the new stuff didn't?

Yeah, buy the connectors. Don't try it with a soldering tool, unless you are pretty handy with one. 120 volts AC can be a very shocking experience for you, and can easily kill one of your pets.

The heat tape was a 4ft strip and I cut it in half. So half is connected and half isn't. I was looking at reptile basic and they say if you buy the heat tape (flexwatt) and the cords they will hook it up for you. So for $11 I can get the connectors or for $16 I can get new heat tape and the connectors togeather assembled. Emailed big apple to see if they would assemble the heat tape and the cords.

When you order the heat tape already hooked up tell them to throw in the other connectors. This will save you on the shipping them and you then will have an extra 2 foot piee ready to go.
